It IS a tough crowd here. But so it should be to keep the standards high. Some tunes get more negative comments than others but the ratings don't lie and those songs that the collective audience here mark down usually don't get played again - well - apart from a few notable exceptions like Denge Fever :) But Bill plays that to shake some people up.

Shame the John Wayne Gacy track off this record hasn't been played since 2007 - I know it's a bit disturbing but hey, we're all grown up, and who else has written a track like that!!

Criticizing a song for being repetitive is just plain lazy as just about 99.9% of all music is repetitive to some extent.  One could argue that non-repetitive music is not really music at all, but noise.

My appreciation for Sufjans stuff was substellar to begin with, over time and many rotations around RP it has declined enough (at least in my ears) that I eagerly await its last flaming descent.

Sufjan reminds me of the main character in Rushmore, except that he's taken over the band class, locked the teacher out, and is using his peers to bring his crazy ideas to life. I also love the Steve Reich/Phil Glass touches on this album.

Sufjan's music seems to inspire love or hate. What I've heard of this album puts me distinctly in the latter category. His trembly, fearful quavering is mostly to blame for that.
