It's all coming back to me now
That strange and almost endless dream
Where I was you and you were me
You opened up your eyes and I could see
That you were falling from the world
As aimless as a shooting star in orbit around me
Thinking I was somebody else
And terrified to look at me and see yourself, well...
You are like a dream
And I am just a trip that you are on
When the trip is over you will go back
To the places that you once beloved
You will look for comfort there
And when you do you'll find that it has gone
That is when you'll dream a dream
Where I am you and you are me
And then you'll know my love
So don't be afraid
Your heart is in me
And it's racing so fast now
'Cause everything we ever were or ever will be
Is shapeless as a changing cloud
Your letter written on the sky
I'm needing now to read it through my eyes
When you see just what I see
Then tenderly watch it change
And just let it be
'Cause I am like a dream
And you are just a trip that I am on
When the trip is over I will go back
To the places that I once beloved
And I will look for comfort there
And when I do I know it will be gone
That is when I'll dream a dream
Where I am you and you are me
And then I'll know your love
...so quiet now...
This is just some trip that we are on
When the trip is over we will think of this
As someplace that we once beloved
When I find no comfort here
I'll look again to find it in your arms
That is where I'll dream a dream
Where I am you and you are me
And that's where I know love

The technique works well to 'conjure' up a seriously sexy tone, and has been used for years. See/hear her (far too few) solo cuts for comparison. Early Annie Lennox, too, maybe? |

| unclehud (now 50 feet above the planet in Boston) | Posted: Apr 28, 2013 - 19:49 Unmistakable voice. Effortless elegance. Almost insouciant? Whatever; I'm immediately transfixed. |
| Rachoh (Boston) | Posted: Feb 25, 2013 - 07:26 Poe, please return to us! We miss you Anne!! |
| tprimeau (Monroe) | Posted: Feb 25, 2013 - 07:26 Garssh, Poe's voice is so sexy. |
| Paeli (Toronto, ON) | Posted: Nov 23, 2012 - 07:29 Extraordinary Way is another great Conjure One song with Poe. The Extraordinary Way Antillas mix is great. |
| cShaggy (..in the general vicinity..) | Posted: Nov 18, 2012 - 04:52 ..transportive & poetic (pun intended).. |

| Sloggydog (UK) | Posted: Feb 13, 2012 - 01:30 Pretty voice, nice dreamy musical background. What's not to like? |
| salzburg4321 (Salzburg, Austria) | Posted: Dec 06, 2011 - 06:02 Nice Poe. Solid 7 |
| GeneP59 (On the edge of tomorrow looking back at yesterday.) | Posted: Nov 04, 2011 - 16:25 Her voice reminds me a little of Karen Carpenter. |
| TheMagus (Memento mori UK) | Posted: Sep 02, 2011 - 15:37 One of the things I really enjoy about RP is the way other listeners can share their knowledge and views, the vocal credit for this track is simply Jane, however RP sleuths reveal her true identity as Poe (confirmed by the Amazon review) and I for one now want to discover more about her work. |

| LastChance | Posted: Aug 05, 2009 - 15:07 A really good album, especially on cool, rainy nights. Not really sure why; it just fits that sort of night. |
| lawman (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) | Posted: Jun 19, 2009 - 00:50 Fab. I really shouldn't listen to RP - it's just too full of love songs. |

Certain songs on "Haunted" can nearly move me to tears with her heartfelt passion and emotion. I guess if Conjure One is the best gig she can get right now, so be it; but I long for something new and personal from her. What a treasure. Whatever happened to Poe? Did she retire? |

| dandinpantelimon (The Netherlands) | Posted: Oct 09, 2008 - 03:31 well i must admit that i haven't paid attention to the lyrics — but no matter how good they might conceivably have been — what a godawful song! i heard hundreds exactly like it, broadcast endlessly by trashy radiostations (which RP is certainly not) in taxis around the world... or am i missing some subtle thing?! can't say there was room for much subtlety in that song though... |
