I like spinach and this version of the World Party song. Eliza Gilkyson is a very good live performer. also.

Probably the wrong question asked of the wrong person, but why do you find this boring? Teenagers spend a lot of time stating that things are boring, as if the statement alone says it all.

The original was ok, though I could see how some folk would see it as boring, but IMO this cover adds layers to the original and refreshes it. Which is what a good cover version should do. 9 from the Nottingham jury.

More people around here need to think like artists rather than analysts... It's a beautiful cover of a powerful song and guess what, that's what artists do, relax and listen and see the beauty in it.   But the banter is fun...

Wow. Very cool. I beat that soundtrack to death as a kid.

I always thought Baloo the Bear was voiced by Forrest Tucker (Sarge from F Troop) but then I looked at Wikipedia and realized that Al Harris was the guy. Quite a career...

They were so bummed with what Eliza did to their song that the party just spontaneously ended and everybody went home.

{#Roflol}  What a hoot!

I wondered how The Mugro Doctrine could have missed an example where the cover exceeded the original (according to Trent Reznor himself):  Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt".  No anachronism here, the doctrine was formulated four years after JC's cover!

Personally, I always give the original artist the inside track on any song, but mrrob has a point, I think Eliza Gilkyson's cover is just as good.

Oh, and I never liked "Watchtower" by Hendrix.  OMG!  A heretic!!

The Mugro Doctrine applies here and tells us that this song sucks.

Mugro Doctrine:

In order for a cover song to be worthy of wasting precious airwaves (or bandwith), it must do one of the following:
1. Be a completely taken out of one genre and put into another (the Red Hot Chilis taking on Steveie Wonder's Higher Ground, for example; another example is Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower)
2. Be a completely new song through the sheer talent of the cover artist. Examples of this are Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah, or the Allman Bros covering Stormy Monday.

This cover is not a new genre from the World Party version, so this cover's only hope is under #2. This artist cannot qualify for overwhelming talent, so the World Party version must stand as the only acceptable version of this song.

I have to agree with the Mugro Doctrine.

Someone needs to upload When the Great Correction Comes and get it into reviewing. (Although, when I checked to see if it was there, even this one didn't show up, so it may have been uploaded already and just doesn't show for some reason. Hmmm...)
