I'd like to believe this, but I saw Herbie and his band in concert this summer and he has not one, but two below average musicians in his touring band. His guitar player isn't bad, he just spends way too much time playing off key and making animal sounds instead of actually playing. And the violinist? Horrible is the nicest word I can I can associate with her "performance".

One of the few disappointing concerts that I have seen.

I saw Herbie Hancock at The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in 1994 and he BLEW!

You should check out his live album, "Try!". He's been touring as the John Mayer Trio (Steve Jordan on drums, Pino Palladino on bass) and trying to establish himself as a serious musician. It's mostly hard-driving blues and rock, and it's a pretty cool album IMHO. Of course, I think he's a great musician across the board; you just have to get past the fact that he ended up being a top-40 heartthrob. That's not his fault - could happen to anyone.

I hate this sentiment. Just because a song get airplay does not make it bad. It can become annoying because of overplay. Plus Radio Paradise isn't "No 'mainstream music' internet radio". It is eclectic, which to be eclectic would probably have to have some mainstream AC/DCish songs for it to be truly eclectic.
