I have yet to hear anything that Jack's been involved with which isn't very good. Love his stuff.

Can't go wrong with this kind of thing! Jack White is one of the best and most exciting dudes to pick up a guitar in a long, long while, and I love how he is slowly but surely becoming an ongoing influence I appreciate more and more, even though I also still cherish the memories of the raw power and playfulness I found in him (and myself upon hearing it) in his early stuff...Steady As She Goes, Jack! and right on, RP! I also always thought that Little Hurricane has shades of this tasty styling under the hood, which is a good thing.

Trip Shakespeare was a very good band that changed their name to Semisonic, and achieved a little more success afterwords.  I saw Trip twice in college.  I remember wincing when saying their name.  I think it hurt them.  It shouldn't, but, that's the way it is.

The opening (lone bass comping the root chords followed by a guitar doing the same) is eerily similar to Don Dixon's "Praying Mantis." I haven't sat down with me axe to actually compare the chords. 'Twould be interesting.

No all of us listen to American FM (I can't even if I wanted to) and I quite like this. It seems like a nice little pop song and I for one don't think any the lees of band (or Bill for that matter) for playing pop.

I agree. I think that Jack White would sound better with a more dynamic drummer but it is sort of like Neil Young having Crazy Horse for his band. The Crazy Horse rhythm section is pretty poor also. Flame me! P.S. I like this song and this album a lot plus they have a really good drummer.

But sufficent for what The White Stripes are.  Besides, it's pretty apparent that Meg's presence onstage fuels Jack's performance, a significant contribution on its own.

Their latest album is so much better. This is good but it is sorta like they are just feeling each other out on this one. The second album clearly shows them as a unit, more cohesive. Plus, the songs are just better, more rockin in that White Stripes way but more sophisticated and layered.

I don't get it - is it not okay for rockers to be intelligent or to use big words? That's not unlike the sentiment of voters who select their elected officials on the basis of whom they'd prefer as a drinking buddy.

I MUCH prefer the acoustic version (even with its screw-up) that iTunes gave away four years back. Allegedly, it was recorded in their garage, but has better sound and more character than this version.

Curiously, this is different from the iTunes version, which I like better and actually sounds better despite that it was supposedly recorded in one take in their basement (or something like that).

For a while I had no idea that this was Jack White. Interesting, I think I prefer this album to the White Stripes.

The album is really good, but it is also pretty short (like 39 minutes or something near that).

Nothing against female drummers because there are several really good ones but Meg is awful. Nice to hear Jack White playing with both a decent drummer and bass player.

I still like it - I'm a big fan of Brendan Benson and this is the most 'Bensonesque' of the Raconteurs stuff to date.
