I got nothing
You got something
I feel out of place
Looking through your window
Into the delicate place
Reflections stating obvious mating holds
I'll own up to you if you own up to me
I'll picture for you if you picture for me
Have you got the answer
Have I yet won the part
Is this just your way of breaking my heart
Everyone denies it but they just want to be told
I'll hold if for you if you hold it for me
I'll picture for you if you picture for me
The delicate place
The questions it raise
The delicate place
I got nothing
You got something
I feel out of place
Looking through that window
Into the delicate place
I'll own up to you if you own up to me
I'll picture for you if you picture for me
The delicate place
The questions it raise
The delicate place yeah
The delicate place yeah
The delicate place yeah

They both came into existence out of other bands about the same time, one in England the other in the U.S. Contrary to sirdroseph's opinion I think that they're both great bands. I find that Kula Shaker is more bombastic and much more psychedelic sounding with Spoon being more raw and kind of rustic.

I've always heard some Pixies influence in their music, but maybe it's just the odd time signatures, and a little hint of menace underneath even the sweetest harmonies. Whatever it is, I love it.

Interesting you mention children liking Spoon. My son has loved them since he was two (now six) and his favorite song is "My Mathematical Mind" from this album. Lots of distortion, and yet he's completely drawn to it. I saw them at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2004 and have been passionate about them ever since.

I saw them live at the ACL 3-day music festival in Sept. 07. I really like Spoon, but we had a hard time hanging out and listening to them live. They just didn't sound right, but there could be many factors at play there (e.g. I'm sure running sound on an outdoor, open air stage with music playing concurrently on 6 other stages isn't the easiest thing in the world). That said, I still love their stuff, and love that this song followed Wilco... those two were my favorite bands in 2007.

Man, I sorta think Spoon does quite nicely in the variety department.
| horstman (Syracuse, New York) | Posted: Oct 28, 2007 - 08:16 This band does well. Their music has that unique sound even if their songs can sound a lot alike. That being said, this is a cool tune, great beat, good buildup to the end. But they have much better. Solid 7. | |

| daveturnley | Posted: Jul 10, 2007 - 08:02 The old-timer DJs sure do love this band. Bob Boilen is a fan, too. | |
| rKokon (MD) | Posted: Mar 22, 2007 - 09:30 The monotony is putting me to sleep. The beat is good and so is the drumming, but the singing has neither tunefulness nor emotion--though the part with the two voices is good. I am trying to like it, but I keep dozing off. No, it really is boring and the singers are pedestrian. The album cover is beautiful, evocative, striking. Maybe other songs than this go better with the cover. | |
| enidualc (Guyville) | Posted: Mar 12, 2007 - 09:31 I'll picture for you if you picture for me but i wanna hold the camera! | |
| MojoJojo (Indianapolis, IN USA) | Posted: Mar 12, 2007 - 09:28 ACL is where I first heard/saw them (TV, not there unfortunately). I bought the album based on that, and was pleased that the non-live performance was better, although I thought the roughness worked in the live setting. I bet it was more compelling in person. supergroverx wrote: 9. I'm hugely into this disc. I saw them on Austin City Limits this week. This was one of the songs they played.
