Question for fans:
 Ágætis Byrjun is the only
Sigur Rós album I own.

It's one of my favourite finds of the past few years and it's often on my headphones when I write.
Is there another Sigur Rós album you'd recommend that's similar in tone?

I have them all.  The answer is, unfortunately, no.  Ágætis Byrjun is their only great album, one of my very favorites.  The others are so so.

I discovered these fellows here on RP a couple years back. Quite intrigued with those first few tracks - who knows what they were called. But frankly, I'm tired of the sound. This particular track is just slurp. Drivel. Spilum. Whatever that means. The album cover? Childish.

I bought this when released and was not overly impressed with the album as a whole. I listened again recently and it is one of those rare records that get better with each listen. I'm glad I gave it a second chance as there are some beautiful songs here.

Thanks for playing Sigur Ros.  There are better songs than this one, but still nice to hear on Radio Paradise.

I feel the same way.  I don't have to understand what people are saying, but I feel a lot better knowing it means something.  Maybe it just shows they put some effort into the lyrics, rather than just saying, "Screw it.  'blah-de-blah-de-blork!'  Yeah, that'll work."

Yes!  The only thing missing is the angry mob of ordinary Icelanders running after them.

Easy prediction:  lower reserve ratios and less leverage going forward for the Icelandic financial sector (what's left of it).

Voted number 2 for best album of 2008 by Paste magazine. Yeah!

http://www.pastemagazine.com/

Here's the excerpt :
2. Sigur Rós - Med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust
This record’s most exhilarating peaks are found in its hushed sonic valleys, especially the anguished opening strains of “Festival.” The first half of the song scrapes away all sonic clutter, featuring a minimalist aria of keyboard swells and lead singer Jónsi Birgisson’s falsetto soaring beyond heaven to an even more blissful plateau.
