My favourite Israeli singer is Noa (Achinoam Nini). Beautiful voice - sings in Hebrew, English, Italian, SPanish - you name it :)

And as another Israeli I find it very disturbing that you bring politics into this radio station. Yes, even if you HATE your ONLY country that much. You know, you can always leave. You don't even have to go far, just across the desert or the river or the mountains or the fence into the hands of some of the friendly countries that surround us... But i better stop now.

Just two more things:
1. If you want to read the translation of the lyrics, you can find it here
2. All those comments about the language are really not needed guys. You know, for Chinese people english might sound terrible and I don't wanna know what african people think about your native language. So Hebrew has a "ch" sound, like the arab and the dutch and many others. So what? you spit when you say "th" {#Razz}

Thank you for posting sronis!  Why must people get political upon hearing this song?  I find this especially true since I am quite sure that a majority of posters giving this negative ratings, or worse, negative political comments, have yet to actually research the lyrics.  If you give a negative rating because you do not like the song, based upon its musical merits (or lack thereof, in your opinion), so be it.  But to hate because you have an issue with Israel, is, well, petty.

It seems like there is some powerful peer pressure going on . If a citizen can't express his feeling uncomfortable about his country's foriegn policy it hardly reflects well on his country's belief in democracy.

Had to come back to make sure I had given it a 1. Check.

But if we want to get into politics, why doesn't Israel learn to stand on its own feet instead of using lobbyists to draw American tax payer's dollars to prop them up.

Thanks Bill for playing this!  I first heard of Idan Raichel through RP and am in love with his different projects. His music has also inspired my study of Hebrew. Thanks for playing these beautiful songs!

Haunting, yes . . . and poignant, and comforting.  Amazing how much emotion a singer can convey even when the listener doesn't understand the words.

I don't speak a word of Hebrew, but I could listen to this all day.

Very nice. I bought the album after hearing it on RP, it's all good. Of course you have to have an open mind to accept something different (which we all don't seem to have...)

you really have to hear a song in a foreign language to really understand the fact that most people in the world who listen to music really have no idea of what it means.. hmmm...

It is terrifically sung. Y'know, the rest of y'all oughta get out of your occidental comfort zones (I mean really, lmic {#Puke}?!). Hebrew, an oriental language, has different pronunciation values. Eh, so what? It's a beautiful song.

The CD is very good, though I don't understand the lyrics. I hope they have a message of peace.

I really enjoyed this - she has a beautiful, soft voice, and the mixture of different sounds the band uses is quite appealing - east and west together.

Ever eat putrefied shark? Well from what I understand it tastes as bad as it smells, yet some people like it quite a bit after it's sat under a heavy load of gravel for a few weeks. If ya accept that but aren't going to eat it you're not a narrow minded couch potato, you just know what you like.
