Just checked — yup, I gave the original a 10. This gets a 2 and a 2 ONLY because the original version is so strong a bit of it still shines through this dreck.

This is simply a vanilla cover version that ANY second-rate club act could render. Same goes for White Rabbit on the same album.

So sad to hear such mush on RP. This makes ME feel Sucker Punched!

Then, to add injury, at the time of listening, Bill immediately follows up with the Dolly Parton cover version of "Shine".

Come on Bill. Really?

Sounds perfect for a movie soundtrack. As long as you don't expect much, it's pretty enjoyable. 6

It's better than the cover of White Rabbit from the same album....that may be damning it with faint praise, but.....

Rather pleasant, really. But I'm a sucker for a crisp, clear female voice. So subtract a point or two of you're not.

OH, not this tripe again.
The only thing this has going for it is that it was a great tune to begin with - which has been all but obliterated in this dumpster of a production.

You've got the message across quite clearly. I agree with you - this is unmemorable, though I still consider it to be an improvement on the original.

OK, so what happened to this movie?  They had pictures plastered all over Times Square for a whole three days.  Seemed like it would either take a dive or become a cult hit.

Since we're picking favorites (other than the original, of course), I'll go with the one Phil Collins did to close out "Face Value".

It may have been "commissioned" by whoever was putting the music together for the movie.  Not that bad of a version, really.

The album is almost all covers.   Some of them better than others.  Unfortunately the music was driven by the scene in the movie (which wasn't that good).     I like Sweet Dreams and White Rabbit better than this one.
