Time it took us
To where the water was
That's what the water gave me
And time goes quicker
Between the two of us
Oh, my love, don't forsake me
Take what the water gave me
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
Pockets full of stones
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
And oh, poor Atlas
The world's a beast of a burden
You've been holding on a long time
And all this longing
And the ships are left to rust
That's what the water gave us
So lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
Pockets full of stones
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
'Cause they took your loved ones
But returned them in exchange for you
But would you have it any other way?
Would you have it any other way?
You could have it any other way
'Cause she's a cruel mistress
And the bargain must be made
But oh, my love, don't forget me
When I let the water take me
So, lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the over flow
Pockets full of stones
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
Pockets full of stones
Lay me down
Let the only sound
Be the overflow
To where the water was

| Thin_Air | Posted: Apr 24, 2013 - 03:21 Absolutely dreadful. Evidence however, that no matter how useless we might consider ourselves to be, with a combination of hard work and a little luck we are all capable of landing a recording contract and shouting our guts out (the closest I can think of how best to describe Flo's "singing") to ultimately being played on RP even if that does mean being subject to harsh critiques like this one! "Vive le diference!" |
| grant | Posted: Apr 06, 2013 - 23:01 Not a big Florence fan . . . not a big fan of her Machine, either. |
| tphord (Up 'ere) | Posted: Apr 03, 2013 - 13:11 Please end this torture... PLEASE! NO MORE FLORENCE ANGST |

| musikalia (Somewhere (over the rainbow)) | Posted: Dec 10, 2012 - 07:23 I wasn't a Florence fan at all but my husband is and we went to see her live last week. I was blown away. She is a goddess! So talented, so sexy, such passion and emotion in her voice. I was surprised how deeply touched I was seeing her perform live. She is amazing! I have been converted to a Florence fan, and I now get why people are so into her. |

This is consistently true on RP . So I'm doing my part and adding a 2 to my negative comments. I don't think the rating is low because the complainers can't be bothered to rate the song. Quite the contrary. Instead I think lots of RP listeners like the song. Sorry. |

| TerryS (Another SW) | Posted: Jul 29, 2012 - 16:50 This one is not my particular cup of tea, but 90% is normal volume and she doesn't really turn it to 11 on this track until the very end. |
| kaybee (Lost in the Wilds of Toronto) | Posted: Jul 29, 2012 - 16:49 I am another who finds Florence tends to wail too much when singing, but this song is nicely restrained and all the more effective for it. Quite nice! |

I've totally had enough. Every time she comes on now my Pavlovian reflex switches to something different. |
