No comparison...

Joe has a long way to go to match Stevie's licks

I love the album cover art and Joe is great. Very clean and controlled, maybe too controlled sometimes. I saw a reference here comparing him to SRV, if you'd like to here Stevie's real successor check out Doyle Bramhall ll. He played with SRV and his band the Arc Angels include Stevie's boys to boot as well as Charlie Sexton. Doyle's the real deal.

If you ever get the chance to see Bonamassa live, do so! He puts on a fabulous show, especially if the venue is right (good acoustics, intimate feel) for the kind of show he puts on, or at least used to (I last saw him in ~2008-9).

Warning! This man is a shredder. I have seen him twice and although good the fireworks wear a bit thin after a while.

Joe is definitely a student of SRV, and a number of other great blues guitarists.  I'd say he's one of, if not the, best blues rocker out there right now.
