You and me
Meant to be
Immutable
Impossible
It's destiny
Pure lunacy
Incalculable
Insufferable
And for the last time
You're everything
That I want and ask for
You're all that I'd
Dreamed
Who wouldn't be the one you love?
Who wouldn't stand inside your love?
Protected and the lover of
A pure soul
And beautiful
You
Don't understand
Don't feel me now
I will breathe
For the both of us
Travel the world
Traverse the skies
You're home is here
Within my heart
And for the first time
I feel as though I am
Reborn in my mind
Recast as child and mystic son
Who wouldn't be the one you love?
Who wouldn't stand inside your love?
And for the first time
I'm telling you how much I
Need and bleed for
Your every move and waking sound
In my time I'll wrap my wire
Around your heart and your mind
You're mine forever now
Who wouldn't be the one you love and live for?
Who wouldn't stand inside your love and die for?
Who wouldn't be the one you love?
| ploba (the other coast and hang a left) | Posted: May 21, 2013 - 05:41 what a complete and utter pile of freakin noise |
| stahlwerk | Posted: May 21, 2013 - 05:40 This album ages exceptionally well.. released the day after tomorrow 13 years ago, if I remember correctly (23/5/2000). At first I disliked it for the noisiness (which also sadly permeated the zwan album) caused by relentless level compression, but in recent years I find myself appreciating the sounds and arrangements that hide behind the noise. Also, Speed Kills is one of their best B-sides, go check it out! |
| Lazarus (Bethany) | Posted: Mar 19, 2013 - 11:16 Everybody in my church loves this song... |
| sandpebble (near Paradise) | Posted: Mar 19, 2013 - 11:15 One of the greatest voices in modern music! |
| joempie (Switzerland) | Posted: Feb 16, 2013 - 02:02 I always thought this band was called 'Smashing Pumkins', not 'The Smashing Pumkins'. Not that I care either way, but it makes a big difference in the meaning of the band name... Either someone is smashing pumpkins, as in fruit ninja, or we're talking about a bunch of pumpkins that are just smashing... :) |
| jpdribbler (Berlin) | Posted: Jan 31, 2013 - 05:44 I totally understand not liking the SP in general and Billy's voice and ego in particular. I totally don't understand, however, how much vitriol this particular (IMO godlike) piece of music attracts. |
| Biscobret (Vashon, WA) | Posted: Nov 29, 2012 - 12:21 Solo Billy - not really SP, IMHO... |

| kingart (Brooklyn NY) | Posted: Sep 27, 2012 - 16:38 One of the few or maybe the only SP song I could listen to over and over. An acquired taste. Play it again, Bill. |
| vanmas (Leiden, Netherlands) | Posted: Sep 12, 2012 - 02:56 My ears bleeding! Volume down overhere... |

| (former member) (hotel in Las Vegas) | Posted: Dec 17, 2011 - 20:34 I ranked this one a 10 long ago, but I don't think I have made any comments before... this song is good for the ears... |
| patrick30 (Austria) | Posted: Sep 14, 2011 - 00:42 thanks for playin smashing pumkins more often in the last few days!! |
| kingart (Brooklyn NY) | Posted: Aug 13, 2011 - 15:47 Having overheard a few of their big hits, I never became a Smashing Pumpkins fan, so I didn't go out of my way to crank them out, they sounded like droning alt grungers, and I couldn't get a fix on Corgan. But this cut is, well, smashing. I'd iTune it. |
| Algee | Posted: Jul 13, 2011 - 07:02 The idea that we fill a phone booth filled with water and Billy Corgan - while brilliant and undoubtedly effective - won't work on account of they don't make phone booths anymore. The thought was there, however. Imagine how much bad stuff could be avoided in the future if only... dadofsammy wrote: I missed the whole Smashing Pumpkins thing when it happened. Oh well. So heard this for the first time a couple weeks ago on RP. This is dripping with intensity. I love it. You never know, do you? |
| iTuner | Posted: Jun 27, 2011 - 13:07 Sounds like all there other songs. Innovators at first and now its all formulaic. |

Chamberlin is (was?) a wild beast on drums with a style and energy that was his alone. The one album that Smashing Pumpkins made without him ("Adore," I think) was interesting, but overall it lacked energy in Jimmy's absence. It reminded me of when R.E.M. recorded "Up" — it was interesting in tone and feel, but the lack of Bill Berry was definitely felt. |

| Sullen (Hellview) | Posted: Nov 18, 2010 - 22:32 A bit biting for those who dig the "usual". This is still an overlooked masterpiece of an album, and song of course. |

| johnjconn (chicago land) | Posted: Aug 15, 2010 - 11:24 Thank God for the Smashing Pumpkins. Without artist like Billy, we'd have nothing but a steady stream of "American Idol" type artists. Which is nothing more than Wall Street created sound for the boring masses. Long live the Pumpkins and other artist who reach out for a unique sound. (and long live RP for playing it!) |
| bachbeet | Posted: Aug 15, 2010 - 11:23 I like it. And the album too. One of the best 90s groups. |

| jaydeman (Livermore, CA) | Posted: Jun 28, 2010 - 11:02 Billy Corgan should be held up as a great source of inspiration among young, aspiring singer songwriters everywhere: So your voice sounds like a drunken, self-absorbed, pubescent, voice-cracking, Karaoke performance, and your songs sound like muzak fed thru a distortion box, take heart!, because if the Smashing Pumpkins can do it, then so can you! |

| roxmilt (Puget Sound Cloud) | Posted: Feb 21, 2010 - 17:30 outstanding song from a weird album! brings back memories from their 99 tour :) |
| garycha | Posted: Jan 21, 2010 - 09:12 "Who wouldn't be the one you love? " I love this track. In UK it is just the right time of day to thrash a bit. Try it on decent sound system. The Baldy Twat in a dress (quote Sharon Osborne) is for sure a difficult character, but has produced some great music. I don't really care so much for the last SP tome, but absolutely love Siamese Dream, Mellon, and Adore. This track is the outstanding track of Machina - the video that goes with it apeing Aubrey Beardsley is also very creative. Love it. ![]() |

| keller1 (In A Gadda Da Vida, Baby) | Posted: Jul 16, 2009 - 08:23 10 minus 1 for Billy Corgan being such a dink. God I love Jimmy Chamberlin's drumming though. |
| lawman (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) | Posted: Jul 16, 2009 - 08:22 One of the greatest love songs ever, ever, ever! I just love it. As I said to a friend once: See that guy singing the lyrics he wrote? That's me, that is. See that guy screwing his guitar and making it scream in ecstasy? That's me, that is. |
| isayhoomhom (Bethel, CT) | Posted: Jun 30, 2009 - 13:55 SP is one of those bands I've seen live and will never be able to divorce myself of that experience. Billy Corgan was such an incredible ass, insulting the audience and threatening to leave if they didn't quiet down. A brilliant set, musically, but the crowd sure left swearing never to buy one of their albums. Nov. 1991, Gish tour, along with Pearl Jam opening for the RHCP's. Two months later they were kicked off the tour by Anthony Kiedis and replaced with Nirvana. |
