It looks loke alot of people here are wearing nostalgia's glasses. This song is extremely annoying and I'm surprised the rating isn't lower than it actually is.

Me too. I can only put it down to people not having known it when it was released and maybe hearing it now for the first time it could appear a tad dated. It deserves to be on occasional rotation here on RP though as it is so nostalgic.

I think I enjoy the verse part more than the poppy chorus...yet the contrast is what helps this propel above most other rock music. A balance that only XTC seem to handle effortlessly. Great album! A definite Top 10 of the 80s.

Too bad these guys never really hit the big time. At last report Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding had gone their separate ways, with Andy writing music for TV and adverts. I wish them the best, they were my favorite band from the late 70s into the early 90s.

Here in the states its pretty much the same. Especially the stations owned by Clear Channel. The standard format is play the same songs over and over in rotation all day long with a few odds and ends thrown in when you're not having to listen to the blabbering of unfunny DJs and endless commercials. Your best bet for music like what you hear on RP is college radio stations but they are few and far between and their coverage (area the broadcast in) is often minimal.

Thanks the internets for independent radio stations like RP.

Well I can tell you, Fred, it's pretty bad here too, taken over long ago by corporate radio congloms like Infinity Broadcasting and Clear Channel. The only hope is the few listener-supported or college stations now it seems.

Yes, grats to RP for what they're doing.

Yeah, he's been one of my favorites since I first heard them, a few years after this song came out.     I still have English Settlement (double LP) on vinyl!
