I really enjoyed his work on Luka Bloom.  Better than this, IMO.

Definitely brought some entertaining comments!  Maybe it's because I was actually busy at my desk doing something that I kind of liked the song.  Keep it coming.  That's why we listen!

Sounds SO contrived......so much for real passion.  Have to return again to plead that Bill doesn't play this again....PLEASE!

Had I only known Bill was going to play this, I would have remonstrated with him as I passed by Paradise 3 days ago.

This would be a great song if it weren't for the wavery voice thing he's got going. That part just makes my teeth rattle.

This song is kinda sappy, not very unique — but it's also under rated. He's sincere, observant, and he feels what he's singing about.

Great to hear Luka on here. I like this song a lot but his first "proper" album (as Luka, not Barry Moore) "Riverside" is his best imo.

At first i thought this was a god-awful cover of Elton John's "Sacrifice." But no...it is much much worse than that.

Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through

And its no sacrifice
Just a simple word
Its two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But its no sacrifice
No sacrifice
Its no sacrifice at all

Oops, sorry, wrong song.

Gave this a 1 rating but the average is still way too high at 4.9.
So come on all you discerning listeners - give this guy as many Ya Boo Sucks as this drivel deserves.

He is a bit too whiny to be appealing. The tragedy comes across too thick.

I envision the first front-rows at his concerts filled with women who are glued to every of his "emotions". You get the idea.

If this is your thing, I would recommend "North and South of the River" by Christy Moore.

Are you kidding? I can't believe Elton John and Luka Bloom were even compared -- that's like comparing Celine Dion with Joan Baez...that's worse than apples and oranges, mates...

Hail, fellow Tucsonan!

The chord progression is very similar to "Sacrifice" (which Sinead covered with her own brand of vibrato). Perhaps that's what you hear? I know I do. :)

I think this song has a bit of skipping at the start - but it could just be me!

Love this song though, and yes it has echoes of Elton John!

Nice lyric and vocalist as well. Not all that many male rock/pop/folk vocalists use the lower part of their range, his is nice and rich. Makes me want to cop a hug from a bass baritone.
