One of the most awkward conversations I've ever had with my mother was trying to explain the Flaming Lips to her.  I may have well been speaking Greek.  Of course, she doesn't really listen to music.

Love me some Lips!

Shame about the rough out-of-tune voice, though - like a less tuneful Rod Stewart.

Brings to mind the underground Big Time Television Network from "The Max Headroom Show"  It was broadcast from an old bus. {#Roflol}

An anthem of noncommercial small radio stations and access TV since it first came out. A nostalgic 9 from me.

I have this random bootleg of the Lips performing stuff from Zaireeka at a small club somewhere. Before they start playing you can hear a lone, persistent voice calling out from the back of the venue, "Turn It On!"

Ugh. Flaming Lips = automatic 1. I could hear better singing on karaoke night at 2 AM when everyone is completely trashed and tone-deaf.

Was cruising down a thin grey-linen road in my 2105 Dirt-Devil vacu-car during the early paleolithic era (think more volcanos, less dinosaurs), and Wayne drops out of the sky, hands me a PB&J sammich, and everything just made sense. Those were the days, but I guess you had to be there...

Too good! Better than the music by far. There could well be a rating system for comments. I agree you get 8

I didn't care much for the tune, but the words... I would give the words an 8 or 9... not the lyrics, but the comments inspired by the original goof (about the band being from San Francisco in the 60's). You guys are funny. I give you a 9 and an emoticon. two emoticons and an 8

I hung out with these guys in 2056, they were great. They aren't very good rocketship keepers, however: what a mess! I'm talking dirty food pods everywhere! And don't get me started on the wookie hair balls!

i was in the fox holes with these guys back in the '40s, we would call up the captain and ask him for a pool table to be flown in, with leveling capability in the trenches. it was awful difficult fying it in with the helicopter, then setting it up in the dirt--boy those were some days.

I used to hang with these guys in the '70s. They were totally impossible to deal with. Tell you one thing, do another, sleep with your girlfriend, kick your dog, steal your grandmother's government cheese.

No, wait. I think that was the Flaming Assholes.

Different band. Never mind.
