One life to live but we're doing it wrong
You see, got my brother down cause it's nothing to me
Everyone's saying that it's wrong to cheat
But there's no other way to get my life on easy street
Someone else telling you what you're living for
Been knocking you down, now you're looking for more
The only sound you hear is a closing door
Been looking for peace but they're bringing you war
Rich man's crying cause his money's time
And poor man's smiling cause he knows he ain't blind
There's a man over there says he's tougher than me
But i got eyes that can see through fantasy
I think my life is passing me by
I think my life is passing me by
Take it all back cause it don't mean nothing
If you give it away and you're looking for something back
Wake up every morning when there's nothing there
No reason to die but no reason to care
Someone else telling you what you're living for
Been knocking you down now you're looking for more
The only sound you hear is a closing door
Been looking for peace but they're bringing you war
One life to live but we're doing it wrong
You see, got my brother down cause it's nothing to me
Rich man's crying cause his money's time
Poor man's smiling cause he knows he ain't blind
I think my life is passing me by
I think my life is passing me by

It's weird, because this guy's voice doesn't really sound like Perry Farrell, now that I really listen to it, but I always thought this was one of his songs, too. |
| HarrO (Florida) | Posted: Oct 14, 2008 - 20:27 A good song with a serious case of the clap(s). |

true that - when this came out on the radio i figured it was jane's addiction. but after some time a distinguishment has been made.. kind of a bad way to start things off. it's like wearing a costume on your first day to school. |
| SmilinJimmy (Canada) | Posted: Feb 24, 2007 - 22:12 I tremendously dislike SR. Very much so. He's got a face you wouldn't get tired of hitting. But this one? Solid 7. |

He does in fact have a new album. It is being played on RP. It is fantastic! |

He was just in town and by all reports the show was pretty good. And mono? Yeah - sure does sound like it! Yuk. |

He just released a new CD recently. Heard good reviews about it. (click here) |
| Daveinbawlmer (Bawlmer, Merlin. Hon.) | Posted: Mar 24, 2006 - 19:39 Ok, I'm an American who has the Canadian copy of the DVD of the SARS/Toronto Concert. Sam Roberts does a set on this DVD that is pretty ok, but the real standout of the the whole damn thing was Kathleen Edwards doing a gutsy, straight up set that kicked butt. So figure me a Kathleen Edwards fan now. |

| MCKY (PEI, Great White North) | Posted: Aug 31, 2005 - 14:17 Neat Sam Roberts story-a few years back, I took my 15 year old kids and their freinds to see SR. On the way we stopped at macDonalds, and found Roberts and his band in the line up. They were tired from the road, but went out of their way to be nice to my kids. I was impressed. |

Really ? Well ya know those long tall drinks are certainly an eyeful, but they take up a lot of room in bed and aren't always that manouverable. An athletic little guy who can turn on a dime, on the other hand...... |

| plundis (Carnegie, PA) | Posted: Dec 02, 2003 - 23:27 I gave it a 10. This is such a rich and original sound.. The chorus pause slow down isn't my favorite... But at any rate, this is a keeper you could pick up in 10 years and wonder if it came from the 60's the 80's or yesterday.... Without that corny shortcut cowbell or twisty guitar cranks... |

Only thing good about this song is the end!!
