I spend too much time raiding windmills
We go side by side, laugh until it's right
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes
Take the darkest hour, break it open
Water to repair what we have broken
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes
Maybe any way the wind blows
It's all worth waiting for
Pull on the borders to lighten the load
Tell all the passengers we're going home
I spend too much time seeking shelter
World without end couldn't hold her
There's something that you won't show
Waiting where the light goes
Maybe any way the wind blows
It's all worth waiting for
Any way the wind blows
| garrettb (Vancouver, Canada / Dublin, Ireland) | Posted: May 13, 2013 - 13:19 I like the feel of this - a bit like some Criwded House / Neil Finn songs |
| poetista | Posted: Mar 16, 2013 - 18:54 The perfect song at the perfect moment. I spend too much time seeking shelter, too. |
| zepher | Posted: Feb 13, 2013 - 10:21 Ah, Marcela, the beautiful shepherdess: "But in the event the two are equally beautiful, it does not mean that their desires are necessarily equal, for not all beauties fall in love; some are a pleasure to the eye but do not surrender their will, because if all beauties loved and surrendered, there would be a whirl of confused and misled wills not knowing where they should stop, for since beautiful subjects are infinite, desires would have to be infinite too" |

I embraced this song as it allowed me to wallow in my misery, perhaps trying to understand the pain I had caused a loved one. I didn't believe it absolved me of anything, just a chance to open up to the sadness. This is still hard to listen to today. Thanks for your candid post. I think we all have songs that bring back painful memories. For me it's Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car". |

Toad on stage with about 500 of my closest friends (at least during this song). Everyone swayed and swooned. Really cool. |

| maritza19 (Washington, DC) | Posted: Apr 25, 2011 - 09:11 Toad's released an album of new versions of some of their favorite songs (called All You Want), and it includes an excellent new version of Windmills. It's different, more electric, but just as awesome and beautiful. If you are a fan of this song I'd recommend it! You can buy the album on their website or at shows. Also they are officially reuniting as a band and working on new songs together. This could not make a Toad fan happier. ![]() |
