I failed to appreciate 10 Years After in their time. I somehow got my hands on this album and another one but it never thrilled me. I hold them in higher regard 40 years after.

As I listened to this song I heard phrases from several other familiar songs and thought that may have been by design.  But after checking out the info and noticing the date this was released it appears that other familiar songs must have borrowed from this song!

Oh, man, I still have this LP, bought in Argentina in 1971 (I guess). For me, it's the best of Ten Years After (or Alvin Lee, which is the same thing).

This sounds very much like Jimi Hendrix. Well, not the vocals, but the guitars and the riff.

EDIT: now towards the middle it's sounding like Allman Bros. And I agree that the vocals sound very much like Morphine's Sandman. Hmmm....

This is one of those rare albums that is listenable from start to finish.  Could be considered a concept album  Not a bad song on it.

Yeah, I hear ya. Mine has "cat scratch fever" running up and down the spine. Don't know why that damn cat used the lps as her "scratchin' post". But, good lp for sure.

    As I walked into the room in the middle of this song, I thought I was hearing the bridge
in the Allman Brothers  "Can't you see"  .....I don't know which song came first,
but there are some exact cord patterns in each.. ..  

Alvin wrote some of the most controversial lyrics of the time...
 when he wrote: "Everywhere is freaks and hairies / Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity / Tax the rich, feed the poor
 / Till there are no rich no more."——A.Lee

And while it was taken as a pro-conservative message when taken out of context, the song as a whole seems
to suggest that while there is much social discontent and animus between the schools of thought, perhaps
Lee was:  "leaving it up to you, cuz I don't know what to do " —-A. Lee
He's about one rug down from Page, Hendrix, & Clapton which made him one hellava good guitar player. Hall of Fame-er
