Love, love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Feathers on my breath
Gentle impulsion shakes me makes me lighter
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Feathers on my breath
Nine nights of matter
Black flowers blossom
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire of a confession
Feathers on my breath
Black flowers blossom
Feathers on my breath
Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire of a confession
Feathers on my breath
Most faithful mirror
Feathers on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Feathers on my breath
You're stumbling a little

My money's on the pooch. Heck of an author, too, as it turns out. If you haven't read "The Gun Seller" yet, give it a shot. Great stuff. As for this song, sorry, but no. I'll take Massive Attack. |

Right-o — doesn't he have an album coming out? Or going on tour? I thought I heard that somewhere. Enjoyed his music performance bits on House — added deeper dimension to the character. EDIT: guess it came out May 2011, I missed the memo on that one.... |

| jhorton | Posted: May 02, 2012 - 17:19 I, too, love the original, but if you don't play guitar and sing, you can't understand how fearless this cover is. Brilliant and beautiful. IMO. |
| lily34 (lexvegas) | Posted: May 02, 2012 - 17:16 i don't think this needed to be done. |
| Sloggydog (UK) | Posted: Apr 24, 2012 - 22:07 Not as good as his usual stuff or the original but still not too bad. |
| dave3ld (What a great station!) | Posted: Feb 29, 2012 - 07:55 A great cover of one of my favourite songs originally sung by (the goddess) Liz Fraser. A 9 in my books. |

| suesblues (Sydney, Australia) | Posted: Jul 10, 2011 - 04:39 nice homage to a beautiful song, but not as good as the original. Why do I think of men in kilts on a wild scottish moor when listening to this version? |
| Cynaera (South of Neanderthal) | Posted: Jun 13, 2011 - 19:53 Okay - I'm voting for a "Torture RP Listeners" set. ALL the versions of this song, one after another. With apologies before and after the set. And then, another "Torture RP Listeners" set with "Alleluia." Possibly a contest - listeners vote for their favorite version and the winners of the most popular version get a mug, or a T-shirt, or a really cool thing to post at their websites. Or money. Money would be good, too. Suitable warnings should apply, of course, and during the time some RP listeners will flee the scene and possibly get homework done or a room rearranged, beverages and food should be offered. |
| hencini | Posted: Jun 13, 2011 - 18:01 Good, but I definitely prefer the MA version. |

I agree that a cover should be the other artist's interpretation, though I find Jose's just okay. I do, however, love Civil Twilight's "Teardrop" cover: http://www.myspace.com/civiltwilightband/music/songs/teardrop-72476885 |

I've been listening to RP for about 5 years, always loved this song, think of it as the "clanging on the pipes" song. Also have always loved Massive Attack's version. So I guess it's a tribute to both band's unique cover of this song that it was only a few months ago that I realized they were the same song! |
| Magikal1act (San Francisco Bay Area) | Posted: Apr 11, 2011 - 12:42 took my breath away...I heard this song in a way I never have before and I love Massive Attack no doubt. Thank you (once again, RP) for given me a delightful aural experience. |

| lexica (Oakland, CA) | Posted: Mar 05, 2011 - 19:55 Just had to bump this from 8 to 9. I do love a cover version that really reinterprets the original and makes something new of it. Otherwise, why bother? (Note, I love the original as well.) |

Whatever versions I've heard, I love, of course - Newton Faulkner's is my favorite, with Massive Attack's version second... Massive Attack is the original, and yes they wrote it — it appears on their stunning 1998 album Mezzanine with Elizabeth Fraser on vocals. I love the original — and Elbow's cover 2nd. Jose is meh, okay I guess. |
| Cynaera (South of Neanderthal) | Posted: Feb 07, 2011 - 16:15 So - I went back through four pages of comments, and apart from a lot of snarky words about "the original," I read only a few that actually referred to Massive Attack as the original performer. I like Newton Faulkner's cover, and of course, Massive Attack has the market cornered, but who wrote the song, and was it Massive Attack that originated it? |

| Danimal174 (Upstate South Carolina) | Posted: Dec 01, 2010 - 13:42 I actually knew of this version before I had ever heard the original by Massive Attack (I bought "In Our Nature" a couple of years ago, and only heard Massive Attack's version a few months ago). Perhaps because of this, I actually like Jose's cover as much as, maybe even a little more than, the original. I prefer his voice to the original singer's for the song...my two cents, anyway. It would be really cool to hear his singing mixed with the music from the original. |
