Black Sands is possibly the best Bonobo album to date. This is among my favorite tracks on the album, though not the most favorite one. I'm going to see him live in a few weeks at the SF Warfield, should be a great show.

Actually I was thinking it sounds  a lot like Tull, one of the few bands I liked in the 70's.  I used to think the 70's were a musical wasteland - until the 90's came.  Now I realize there has been a lot of excellent rock music throughout all its history - we just aren't always lucky enough to have access to it.  Which is why I love RP so much!  We get to hear all of it, including that which we missed the first time around.

I'm glad you like it so much, as do I, but as someone who, sadly, lived through the musical wasteland that was the 70s, I don't think it sounds like anything that came out in those days. Way too funky and minimalist compared to the bloated progrock that dominated the alternative music scene in that decade.

Well I've recently developed an interest in this kind of music thanks to Bonobo's Black Sands (which I first heard on RP obviously) and God Is An Astronaut's Remembrance Day, but I kinda shifted more towards GIAA than Bonobo, because only a handful songs from the album Black Sands were good. Sadly, this one's not among them.

Yes, that is a great groove - great bass line..  It's got really cool layering and syncopation without sounding "labored".  Nice stuff.

Bonobo apes are way cool - our nearest ape relative, and very much a 'make love not war' species. This band carries that vibe on. All the songs/tunes I've heard from them on here have put a smile on my face and tap in my toes. An immediate 8 from the Nottingham jury. Love the guinea pigs in the background too :o)
