Oh well the long street goes
For miles and miles
And it's picking up some strangers
And it's picking up some smiles
And the half breeds holler
They're educated guesses
And they got a lot of cheers
You guessed it, you guessed it
They keep you in follow mode
They keep you in follow mode
Take the streets you never rode
They keep you-
They keep on knocking
Like the party's on
They keep on knocking
Like the party's gone
I got some friends
In random places
All kinds of ideas
And all kinds of faces
They keep their ready shoes on
They keep their shirts on ice
And they're looking to the future
To loosen the vice
They keep you in follow mode
They hold up their signs
They keep you in follow mode
Most of the time
They keep on knocking
Like the party's on
They keep on knocking
Yeah from dark till dawn
They keep you in follow mode
They hold up their signs
They keep you in follow mode
All of the time
They keep on knocking
Like the party's on
They keep on knocking
Yeah from dark till dawn

| Cynaera (Oh, who cares?) | Posted: Jan 01, 2012 - 19:29 Oh, you haters! I don't even want to know what's in your musical libraries. All I know is that I have this CD in my vehicle, and I just can't stop listening to it. This is, to me, the very best of what The Cars can preview - and I'm betting there's better stuff they'll provide live. |
| 1wolfy (Mission Viejo California) | Posted: Dec 30, 2011 - 14:34 You're all I've got tonight with the lyrics changed |
| aspicer (Chicago, IL) | Posted: Dec 30, 2011 - 14:32 Why, oh why, ONLY this song from the new album????!!! There are other good ones and this is getting over-played.... Bill?! Ok, my rant is over - promise no more comments on this topic - just thought a little reminder might do the trick?! Apparently not. |

| Cynaera (Oh, who cares?) | Posted: Dec 21, 2011 - 11:24 I have this in my vehicle's CD changer, and with the exception of one song, I absolutely love the whole thing. I'll probably listen to it until it won't play anymore... |

| Cynaera (In a hammock under my own vine and fig tree.) | Posted: Nov 19, 2011 - 17:40 This is definitely on my list of music when I can afford to spend a little money. Every time I hear the opening chords, I perk up and do that whole "oooo-ooo-gotta-turn-this-UP" dance. (It's very unattractive to witness, so be grateful all I did was mention it and not go into detail.) Meet the new Cars - NOT the same as the old Cars... EDIT: I caved. I bought. Can't wait to hear the rest of the CD. YAY CARS! |
| Art_Carnage (DeepintheheartofTexas) | Posted: Nov 19, 2011 - 17:40 It's like it's 1979 all over again. Love it! |
| johnjconn (chicago land) | Posted: Nov 18, 2011 - 10:00 The Cars have a flat |
| Colandrio | Posted: Nov 10, 2011 - 14:38 Time to drop the cars from the playlist. Nothing new here. |
| 1wolfy (Mission Viejo California) | Posted: Nov 10, 2011 - 14:26 too simple...lacking substance would've been cool if they had put an 'older' fashion model on the cover, sprawled on the hood of a sportscar. |
| coloradojohn (still Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; will be back Rocky Mtn Way from early 2012!) | Posted: Nov 09, 2011 - 00:41 I can't get over how much FUN these guys are having playing again — and it showed when they did this jammer on The Colbert Report — and DIG Mr. Easton's killer solo runs; forever wildly inspired yet always lively and crisp... There are some other real tasty gems on this record, too. Can't wait to see what they pull out of the garage next! |

| MiracleDrug (Earth) | Posted: Oct 28, 2011 - 06:30 you've got your nuclear boots and your drip dry glove... |
| Baketown (Maryland) | Posted: Oct 06, 2011 - 12:27 It is funny the two song they are playing are my two least favorite from this CD. The other one is, Drag on Forever. |
| black321 (Apogee) | Posted: Oct 06, 2011 - 12:25 Takes an 80s band to put out a current song with a decent guitar riff. |

| Dahlia_Gumbo (San Francisco) | Posted: Sep 28, 2011 - 17:35 Yeah! |
| run4more (The cave) | Posted: Sep 26, 2011 - 14:06 Ok, twice I've come to this page to make sure I'd rated this song, since it was undoubtedly an "old" Cars tune that I didn't recognize (or remember) from the day. |
| Queue (ROKville, MD) | Posted: Sep 23, 2011 - 10:43 Not bad on first listen. I loved the Cars when they first hit big. "New Wave" was a breath of fresh air amongst all the disco and crap that was current. I got to see them live in Philly just after Candy-O was released. Probably at their prime right then. It won't quite be the same without Ben Orr, but still nice to hear something new from them. |
| vit | Posted: Sep 23, 2011 - 10:33 So often when a band comes back from the past like this they tend to over-produce their music to make up for ... what I don't know. Maybe the slower, more fallow members. I think of any pop-rock from the Stones to Peter Gabriel. They all fall into it. It doesn't seem like the Cars have though. Like somebody said in another comment, the sound is almost too jagged. |
| coloradojohn (Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan -- 15 min. west of Shinjuku, center of the freaking Universe) | Posted: Sep 21, 2011 - 20:14 CRANK IT UP AND LET THE GOOD ROCK ROLL! Have been rocking this since not long after it came out, and am PSYCHED to say that having a head full of jamming zingers like this makes the crazy world FUN again... Nobody can work so much going on into such tight, well-crafted, catchy, power-infused MAGIC like these guys, and yeah, Ben, you'll live forever in spirit through the ongoing legacy, DIG IT. KEEP ON ROCKIN'! |
| impediguy | Posted: Sep 19, 2011 - 11:36 I saw the Cars on tour a couple of years ago or so. At that time, Ric Ocasek opted out of the tour and Todd Rundgren filled in as the front man. Although I like Todd, it just wasn't the Cars without Ric. Great to hear them playing together again with new material that makes them viably 'the Cars' once again. |
| scraig (Santa Barbara, CA) | Posted: Sep 19, 2011 - 11:33 wow, this may be the surprise of the year. the only question is who's more frail and gaunt Ric Ocasek or Mick Jagger. |
| Dgradeworkunit (Shenandoah Valley) | Posted: Sep 19, 2011 - 11:29 Blast from the... ah... present! |
