I get your meaning, but so much great music is just evocative and makes its point in its tone and ethos ... doesn't mean it still ain't crap, but still doesn't mean it is. But maybe I'm missing your meaning.  I get your point though.  I have a few I'd elect to that list ... some favorites of mine too ... still worthy of their scrutiny.

This song keeps growing on subsequent listens.

She has a great band and a solid producer.

Had tickets to see her in Regina last month but she had to postpone the concert until the Fall (had to take a break. She was exhausted from touring).  Rats!  Can hardly wait til Fall.

BTW, not only is she a great songwriter and singer, but she has a great band behind her.  Of course, it helps that they all seemed to be having fun playing last night.  Also, I really love the way many of her songs start as ballads and then explode into strong rocking songs before finishing as soft ballads again.

With three CDs worth of KE music, I should be listening her for the next month on my drive to work.

I was going to post the same thing!  I'd never stumbled across Edwards until she felt into regular rotation on RP.  I've happily purchased her back catalog and have been in gleeful love ever since.  Thanks Bill!

Her song is the reason I listen to RP... had never heard her before. Now I'm listening to everything she has recorded.  Thanks again, Bill.

At one point in this song, the bass drum beat and keyboard sound exactly like AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill."

Saw Kathleen Edwards live in Manchester (UK) on Sunday. What a fantastic show!
This CD's a little more upbeat (or commercial) than her earlier ones, but it's all great stuff. Buy all her stuff now!

Thanks RP for originally introducing me to her a few years ago.

I've been a fan of Kathleen's ever since seeing her on Austin City Limits a couple years ago.  As I recall, in that show she had a hot band and could absolutely sing the cover off the microphone.   Happy to see a new offering from her....will buy for sure!   Next stop is her website to see if she plays anywhere near my place.  If so.. it's a deffo GO !   (-:

My love took a ride on a red-eye plane
Going home
And we're never going to feel the same
Change this feeling under my feet
Change the sheets and then change me

My love is a stockpile of broken wills
Like Santa Fe, margaritas and sleeping pills
I want to lie in the cracks of this lonely road
I can fill in the blanks every time you don't phone
Here is the truth, I swear it used to be fun
Go ahead run, run, run, run

Change this feeling under my feet
Change the sheets and then change me
Won't you change this feeling under my feet

I want to lie in the cracks of this lonely road
I can fill in the blanks every time you don't phone
Here is the truth, I swear it was fun
Go ahead run, run, run, run, run, run, run

Change this feeling under my feet
Would you change the sheets and then change me
Change this feeling under my feet
'Cause here is the truth, i swear it was fun
Go ahead run, run, run, run, run, run, ooh
Go ahead run, run, run, run, run, run, ooh
