| musicfan14 | Posted: Mar 21, 2011 - 20:54 Not a big Henley fan and definitely not a big Eagles fans...but Boys of Summer is damn near a perfect rock/pop song. Great lyrics, incredible voice...and just the right amount of a 1980s time capsule by virtue of the synths and such, wrapped into timeless themes and beats. The cheese in this song somehow only lends to its charm...the plaintive wails by Henley, in his finest hour, are finally presented raw and unaffected by the faux cowboy BS that marked so much of the Eagles work. Henley's vocals COMPETE with the synth and production...at its core, that's what we are fascinated by in this song...it's an event wrapped into a love song. Great, great work...a quarter of a decade later, it only gets better. |

| element1 (boulder, co) | Posted: Jul 03, 2008 - 16:45 Probably one of Don Henley's several best, with or without Eagles. Glad we don't hear it that often, but still one of his best. |

Can't wait for baseball season to start. I remember when this song came out, I was working my first job in the kitchen of a pizza restaurant and asked one of the waitresses out on a date (my first date - yikes! I was 15). So I always associate this song with a bit of teen dating anxiety, the clatter of pots and Spanish chatter of my co-workers, and the comingled smells of salad dressing, marinara sauce and over-risen pizza dough. |

| slydevil | Posted: Jan 28, 2008 - 07:38 The song is ok when i'm in the mood for mindless radio pop but there's nothing eclectic about it to warrant it being on rp. |

We used to say that line exactly like that as well. I don't hate this song, but I have heard it enough to feel indifferent and was surprised to hear it, here. |

Or more specifically, a sticker related to the Grateful Dead. Where are my wayfarers? Oh yeah ... they broke 20 years ago. This has aged like a fine wine cooler. |
| huebdoo (San Fran) | Posted: Nov 26, 2007 - 11:51 I did not like the Eagles especially the Miami Vice smugglers blues crap. But I have mellowed or something with age... I can now tolerate this Maybe I get it now? Maybe its just that much better than most of the crap on radio now Don I think was the most talented from the Eagles... I have to admit this song is very clean and well produced I give it a 5 |
| Odyzzeuz (Austin, Texas) | Posted: Nov 26, 2007 - 11:50 I love the scene from The Big Lebowski where the Dude gets kicked out of a cab for complaining about the cabie playing The Eagles. ''Not the Eagles, man! I hate the Eagles!'' ''Get the F* out of my cab!'' |

Never did get The Eagles or their offshoots, except for this album. At least, three songs from it- this one, Sunset Grill, All She Wants To Do Is Dance. All pretty terrific. |
