I've literally never heard a LL song that I didn't like. Any comparison to the Subdudes is a great compliment to the Subdudes (and they do sound similar at times).

I love Hidalgo's voice. It has a beautiful clarity and sweetness that I would love to be able to achieve with my singing.

That's ridiculo...and there are two lead singers but you obviously mean David Hidalgo. His voice might not be the most stellar but jeez, the guy is a virtuoso musician and amazing songwriter. He's got to be Pavarotti, too?

I dunno what you're hearing but it plays just as fine as most of LL to my ears. They cover a lot of ground between roots, rock, and cielito lindo, and do it all well.
