Lennon's solo work really takes me to another time, very nostalgic for me. Thanks John.{#Cowboy}

Bill — thanks for your recollections of your work at the station at the time Lennon was murdered.  Glad you did something to stop the tasteless tapes and create your own tribute.

This song might not be great Lennon, but it'd be damn good for anyone else. Same goes for most of the rest of his tracks on Double Fantasy. (And I agree with the comment below that it's sacrilege to attribute this song to his greatest hits collection.)

Proof that the Beatles' occasional lapses into lightweight pop toss-offs weren't all McCartney's doing. . . .

Gawd, let's hope it wouldn't have come to that!

I loved John as much as the next fan, but most of his solo stuff (and especially this latter-day "comeback" stuff) really wasn't that great.

His creativity burned like a supernova with the Beatles and carried over to his first few solo efforts, but somewhere around "Walls & Bridges", the creative juices started to dry up. Nothing wrong with that, it happens to every artist (one could argue that Dylan, Bowie and a few others are still vital). All I'm saying is that his God-like status may be at least in part due to his untimely death.

I dunno.  He could have ended up an elder statesman of rock or he could have turned into Fat Elvis throwing sweaty scarves to blue hairs in Vegas.

I was on the air (as in on the radio) when the news of his murder came down.  Try telling a town full of college students that John Lennon is dead...and then handling the phone after.  {#Cry}

I will always remember with unhealing pain, the day that this song went from being a mediocre cod-rock'n'roll comeback song, to becoming a shrine of remembrance to that awful time when the news of his murder was still fresh.

When I listen to Double Fantasy, I skip the Yoko songs. So I guess, for me, it's Single Fantasy.

Wonderful song! but why say this is from The John Lennon Collection?......that's like saying a song is from the Greatest Hits CD or something which is just plain being lazy.......Double Fantasy was the album okay?

I remember being 8 and listening to this on the radio, not knowing who it was. My dad came by and asked "do you know who this is? It's John Lennon. He was a Beatle." Since I responded puzzled, he gave me his Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl tape, and I was off and flying from there. Thanks, Dad and thanks John.
