Belinda was mine till the time that I found her
Holding Jim
Loving him
Sue came along loved me strong that what I thought
Me and Sue
That died too
Don't know if I will but until I can find me
Girl who will stay and won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
Solitary man
Solitary man
I had it to here being where love's a small word
Paper ring
Part-time thing
I know it's been done having one girl who loves you
Right or wrong
Weak or strong
Don't know if I will but until I can find me
Girl who will stay and won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
Solitary man
Solitary man
Don't know if I will but until I can find me
Girl who will stay and won't play games behind me
I'll be what I am
Solitary man
Solitary man
Solitary man..........

| rulebritannia (NYC - Back in the USA!) | Posted: Dec 08, 2011 - 13:52 Ditto. While I can't stand anything ND did after 1970, some of his early songs were dynamite, especially this one. bachbeet wrote: Good cover of one of Neil's best songs. |
| unclehud (300 feet above the planet) | Posted: Dec 08, 2011 - 13:51 Sounds like Orbison. |

| voicers (Sausalito, CA) | Posted: Jun 02, 2011 - 12:43 Nice! I heard the Radiators perform this with Bob Weir at the Sweetwater. A great song! Thanks, Neil. :) |
| d-don (Oregon) | Posted: Jun 02, 2011 - 12:42 Think I like this better than Diamond's. |

| Geecheeboy (under a crescent moon and palmetto tree) | Posted: Mar 31, 2011 - 07:47 That's sort of funny; when people below were talking about "Neil's version" all I could think of was Neil Young. Duh. The old brain is doing peculiar things these days. |

| Maupie (Velp (gld), the Netherlands) | Posted: Nov 25, 2010 - 13:36 It has been mentioned, but I do love the Cash version better. This is very good and very Cris Isaak! |

As for Chris Isaak "ruining" this one —- nah. I have two Sidewinders CDs and still listen to cuts off of them regularly on my iPod. Witchdoctor and Auntie Ramos Pool Hall each have some great stuff. Witchdoctor does have the unfortunate "Worlds Apart," whose lyrics are compelling but is almost ruined by Andrea Curtis' weirdly uneven vocal performance. Like you, I really dig their version of "Solitary Man." In fact, I dig it so much that I uploaded it. However, it didn't even make the LRC. Sounds like I need to visit T.O. and get a fresh dose. . . |

| Spud (Newcastle, Australia) | Posted: Dec 11, 2009 - 19:20 I like it, it is a very good version of ND's song. I have seen Chris perform in many great places, my favourite was a small theatre down town Boston in 1996. After the show he stayed in the foyer and chatted with his fans, nice touch. |
| LuvWilloughby (Westmore,VT) | Posted: Nov 10, 2009 - 09:28 I think the guitars in this version make it better than the ND original. |

| cactusjo (Auckland, New Zealand) | Posted: Aug 16, 2009 - 02:17 I have to agree - I have moments when I absolutely adore him and listen to all my CI cd's one after another and then other times when I think "hmmmm" - but sometimes thats just the way it is. This particular song would have to be one of my fav's - I love Neil's version also though . . . . . . . | bokey (Up on the tightwire. One sides ice and one is fire.) | Posted: Nov 27, 2008 - 19:33 Hmm, good song.I've played it a few times on my guitar, but I don't really like singing songs with girls names in it for some reason. I get the sentiment, but singing the names takes the heart out of the song for me,since I can't relate. Maybe I need to go out and ask girls-OK- Is your name Melinda or Sue? OK- then I want to date you , then you break my heart, then I can feel right about singing this Neil Diamond song. edit- But regarding Neil Diamond and "Sweet Caroline"-man did one of those Caroline chicks rip my heart out, stomp on it and leave in a smoking, burning mess. No Cracklin' Rosies though. |
