Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime
His sister had another one, she paid it for a lime
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, she called the doctor, woke him up
And said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take
I say, doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
I say, doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take
I say, doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
Now let me get this straight
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you called your doctor, woke him up
And said, Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take
I said, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
I said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take
I said, Doctor, to relieve this bellyache?
You put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Whoo-whoo-whoo, whoo-ooh-ooh, whoo-ooh-ooh
Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime
His sister had another one, she paid it for a lime
She put the lime in the coconut, she drank them both up
And put the lime in the coconut, she called the doctor, woke him up
Said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take

I said, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take?
I said, Doctor
Now let me get this straight
You put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both up
Put a lime in the coconut, you drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, you such a silly woman
Put a lime in the coconut and drink 'em both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both down
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning
Whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, ain't there nothin' you can take
I say, whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, to relieve your bellyache
You say, well, whoo-whoo-whoo-whoo, ain't there nothing I can take
I say, whoo-whoo, to relieve your bellyache
You say, yeah, ain't there nothin' I can take
I say, waah waah, to relieve this bellyache
I say, Doctor, ain't there nothin' I can take?
I say, Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take?
I say, Doctor, ain't there nothing I can take?
I say, Doctor
You're such a silly woman
Put the lime in the coconut and drink them both together
Put the lime in the coconut, then you feel better
Put the lime in the coconut, drink 'em both up
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the mo-o-o-o-orning
Yes, you call me in the morning
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
If you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
Well, if you call me in the morning, I'll tell you what to do
| ???? (Durham, NC) | Posted: Feb 10, 2007 - 15:02 LOL, Here is another request to not play "Harry Nilsson - Coconut". FWIW, I believe this song is on the Up in Smoke soundtrack. Considering how much I like the Up in Smoke soundtrack and RadioParadise, but don't like this song then it must be that this song has some non obvious benefit. Could it be that this this songs sucks so bad that it makes the other songs on RP and the soundtrack better than they actually are? |
| v73c (Portland, OR) | Posted: Feb 10, 2007 - 14:58 Hey Bill, Please add me to the ever increasing list of RP listeners that DO NOT ever want to hear this again! It's a cycle: the more you play it, the more the DO NOT play list grows. K |

I uploaded quite a good version on the LRC by the Beautiful South, so vote, people! |
| 54-40 | Posted: Feb 10, 2007 - 14:58 Delightful. |
| Johnny_Wave (California, baby) | Posted: Feb 10, 2007 - 14:57 Weak song, which does (I think) a dis-service to an otherwise great songwriter. Please drop this song from the playlist and replace it with pretty much anything else he wrote |
| midigitguy | Posted: Feb 10, 2007 - 14:57 INteresting introduction Bill. And my wife heard the opening bars and yelled Turn It Up... Now she is singing along. Should I be frightened? Ahh, screw it, it is Saturday eve. |

| RussNelson | Posted: Jan 26, 2007 - 23:39 The only problem with Coconut is that it displaces all the other excellent Nillson songs, like "Gotta Get Up", "Early in the Morning", or "Jump into the Fire". Especially Jump into the Fire. |
| On_The_Beach (Vancouver, Canada) | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:56 "Everybody's Talkin" would be nice. |
| steveb | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:17 Play this and any of Harry's songs as much as you want Bill !!! How about "Remember (Christmas)" "Early In The Morning" "The Moonbeam Song"? bev wrote: One of the benefits of it being YOUR station!! |
| andesitic (6371 km from (left of?) center) | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:13 I did not expect this song to be sung by someone that looked like him.... Ahh, I am always learning. "> |
| MojoJojo (Indianapolis, IN USA) | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:12 LOL If this is his personal best, as the album cover touts, my sympathies to him and to us. Judging the book (album) by its cover, he faired no better in the personal appearance category. I will say that on a humorous level, he gets some points from me. Unfortunately for him, I don't think it was what he was shooting for. Ouch. |
| ziggytrix (Dallas, TX) | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:11 This song is classic! It's also the last song in the soundtrack to Resevoir Dogs. Doctor is there something I can take to relieve this belly ache, indeed! |

| rconway | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:11 If you're going to play Nilsson... how about "Blanket For A Sail"? I sang that one to my daughter every night for years. |
| g-rod (Church of the Acceptance of Mortality) | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:10 I dunno - The Be Good Tanyas' When Doves Cry is making a run for most "unrequested" song! |
| handyrae (Zero Point Field) | Posted: Jan 12, 2007 - 09:10 I never heard this one before. It's rather silly but fun and enjoyable. And is this really the song with the most requests for having it never played again? I think of seen more hated ones. |
