Hopefully Bill puts this on a +4 year play cycle.
Not having to hear this again till 2016 is appreciated.

I've got Van's album with the Chieftans that I can upload a few songs from. Good idea. We'll see if/when it gets played though.

Y'know, I went through the same thing with Neil Young and Bob Dylan. I'll tell you what I've said before here: Listen to the words and the feelings - get past the voice and go deeper. The soul isn't in the vocals - it's in the lyrics and the music and the depth of emotion.

Some music can be listened to on a superficial level, because it's meant to be listened to that way (think bubblegum.) Other music is created in the hopes that the listener will raise the bar on his or her perceptions and open his or her mind to possibilities, not close it because a note is off or a chord doesn't seem to fit.

Gads, I love music. Eight basic notes, but with sharps and flats and imagination, true art is created.

Sparks: "What kind of music do you listen to?"
Nikita: "I don't listen to music."
Sparks: "Why is that?"
Nikita: "Music evokes emotion."
Sparks: "Emotion spawns genius."
Nikita: "Emotion blurs judgement." (From "La Femme Nikita")

60s and early 70s Van is all very good but it would be nice to hear some more of his 80s and 90s work in the mix here too... alot of it is excellent as well.

Leave it to someone with the moniker "rulebrittania" to diss Van. ;^)

I didn't used to "get" Van Morrison either, back when I was in college. Now I can't get by without him. This is a great album, as is Veedon Fleece.

I totally enjoy and respect Van, but not this song, it has nothing to offer to me musically, I understand the connection with the other gypsy song, but..come on.
