I'm an old fogey myself, Luca77, having first heard Joni in my late teens. I agree with you however, that respect has to be earned. The baby boomer generation has done some good things but much of the counter-culture ideals were actually bought to us mostly by the generation born in the 1940's (people Joni MItchell's age). If anything the world is worse off now than it was 30 years ago. I don't blame a lot of younger people thinking maybe we baby boomers consumed, hoarded and polluted more than our share. And I know a few younger people who are eminently worthy of respect. |

Is it possible for some old people to learn that you have to earn respect from younger people. You don't just get it by not dying - any old fool can cling onto life even while clutching their old vinyl record collection.
