Charlie Watts and Son Volt ought to get together and cover "Big Generator". Wake me when it's over. Far as I'm concerned, the Stones have been dead for 20 years. Someone once joked the Steel Wheels referred to their wheelchairs...hence the Rolling Stones. Ok, I'm done punning. I'll turn it back over to trekhead. ;-) |
| moshevelvul | Posted: Jun 30, 2005 - 16:53 this went by rather painlessly - about the most I can expect from the Stones these days.....I did like 'Stripped' was that what the mostly acoustic, light production album was called? |
| noetic | Posted: Jun 30, 2005 - 16:52 YET, I can't help but wonder why Sympathy of the Devil seems to reflect more personal passion? |

I think Keith Richards has been dead since the early 80's. Nobody's told him yet. |
| rainfairy (SoCal) | Posted: Jun 01, 2005 - 07:23 I know I might still be a little sleepy but I definitely thought this was INXS when it first came on until I looked up at the 'Now Playing'. That bass line, even the vocals, the whole vibe... |

| Typesbad (Not quite Orange County CA) | Posted: May 17, 2005 - 15:34 I groaned when I saw the Rolling Stones on Now Playing. While there once was a time when I camped all night to (unsucessfully) score some Stones tickets, I've been pretty board by most everything I've heard from the Stones for, oh I don't know, two decades? But I generally like this. And I have no idea why. |

| Rakski (San Jose, CA) | Posted: Feb 18, 2005 - 11:16 My 1st buy was a life album of theirs that I've never found again in print - when they 1st came out '63? The sell out's the myriad concert CD Best-of collections that they've put out w/ like 1 or 2 songs on 'em that're new. Transitioning to CD, I bought a couple, & phew - not so good. The collections do not do it for me... |
| dkwalika (Upper Midwest) | Posted: Feb 18, 2005 - 11:15 Great to read all the kudos to Charlie. A great drummer, and, from what the rest of the band says, a great guy. They tour only if Charlie says okay. They've also said they tour cause otherwise they miss him. And, this song is the anti-Sympathy. Think "Yeah, Oh Yeah" vs. "Whoo-hoo" in Sympathy for the Devil. Rock on you old giants. |
| Drummer4soul (Auburn, CA) | Posted: Feb 03, 2005 - 17:36 I have to agree, Charlie Watts is a very solid drummer. Nothing fancy but keeps on tickin'. |

Which was almost the case, but not quite yet, fortunately! |

| trekhead | Posted: Dec 21, 2004 - 10:28 UPLOAD TSO! |
| BigPete | Posted: Oct 08, 2004 - 13:49 This is an excellent tune from an excellent album. I think a lot of people like to slag the Stones because they are rich, famous, popular and old. Who cares? They are inargueably a great rock and roll band. They've been going in and out of fashion for forty years, but their music never fails to deliver. And Keith might outlive us all! |

No, unfortunately that happened long before this. |
| drifter (Albuquerque, NM) | Posted: Jul 13, 2004 - 19:52 generally strained. but I kind of like this last part. |
| Gregorama (Austin, TX) | Posted: May 21, 2004 - 11:03 A wise friend of mine once said, "Every sinner has a future, and every saint has a past." In the discussions below, about the consistency of the quality of Stones albums over the latter decades; make you wonder how many CDs worth of shit that they still have in the can, that is going to be as good as Sticky Fingers or Exile... Even if they only have great singles once in a while, WTF? We should all be so lucky as to be living their lives at that age. |
| GaryG (Ottawa, Ontario) | Posted: May 21, 2004 - 11:00 Charlie Watts makes the Stones roll, even in his sixties. When he packs it in the Stones will be done. |
| Red_Dragon (somewhere in the great midwest) | Posted: Feb 23, 2004 - 18:35 good old gritty rock n' roll as only the twins can do it |

More like a mixture of 3 parts INXS with 2 parts U2 & diluted 'till its totally tasteless. |

| percolator (toronto, on) | Posted: Aug 30, 2002 - 08:14 You know, just when you've given up on them they come out with something you just can't ignore like this. Amazing, although I couldn't bring myself to buy the album. I just have too many of the later ones sitting ruefully collecting dust... |

| Jimmy86 (CA) | Posted: Apr 09, 2002 - 01:36 While I don't think The Stones will ever again reach the heights of "Let It Bleed", or "Satannic Majesty..." or even "Emotional Rescue" or "Some Girls", but they still occasionally put out a classic song, if not a classic album. This IS a great song, and has a cool melody. Sure it's not their best work, but you can't hold them to such a high standard, or you will always be disappointed. Take it for what it is: another |
| Greenman (Nassau, NY) | Posted: Mar 08, 2002 - 18:53 Bridges didn't really do it for me, and this song pretty much is the run of the mill Mick stuff he tends to put on his solo efforts. Now let's go back to Some Girls if we want a true Bridge to Babylon... :p |
| rmurray248 (EAST Paradise, MA) | Posted: Jan 20, 2002 - 22:29 Maybe we can make a saint of Keith, then? |
