I think I listened to Throwing Copper every single day in 1994/95. I loved that album. But this is absolute crap. What happened to them??

Live got big out of the Chameleon Club here in Lancaster, PA. I've only seen them once, but I'm always amused to hear them and here's why. Ed Kowalczyk's father (also Ed Kowalczyk) was my high school newspaper advisor. His mother was a school secretary. I was at their wedding. I believe it was 1969. OK, that makes me old, just had to share that tidbit!

Absolutely agree with this sentiment.  I love this song...despite the "drunk on your juices" lyric.  Odd but then, this band, especially the lead singer is odd.  This tune almost brings a tear to the eye...and then the whole "juices" thing ruins it. {#Snooty}

It seems to be their MO though. With lines like "her placenta falls to the floor" from Lightning Crashes, the above line is actually a bit tamer.

I love this album though.

Always kinda like this band.

But, saw them live about 10 years ago...and the guitarist for this band, shall we say, sucks. Guy couldn't play a lick to save his life. Same droning chords over and over.

Still, they write nice songs.

Mental Jewelry and Throwing Copper are both awesome, deep albums that are best heard real loud. Crankin! Very energetic. Have them both and love them.

Every album after that really sucks! This band went from really good to awful. Too bad.

Pearl Jam and these guys are indirectly responsible for so much of the awful "isn't-my-macho-pain-gorgeous" rock that's in the mainstream now. Eddie Vedder and Live's singer are likewise the most imitated amongst the same crowd.

It's not really fair to blame some musicians for the bad music of those they influenced. But it's awfully tempting.

I seem to be in the minority in that I find Live quite bland.

A friend of mine asked me to go to one of their concerts a few years ago (here in Adelaide) so I went, hoping to be convinced otherwise.

I left the show feeling no different....

I'm really not a big fan of Live (as people) at all. They are from my hometown (York, PA) and basically snubbed the entire area. First, dedicating a song entitled Shittown on Throwing Copper to York. They then would refuse to play there until after their debacle rap collaboration (with a guy named Tricky, I think?). The return was called a "Reunion Concert" but all they did was just hike up the prices to values they wouldnt've gotten anywhere else. Not appreciating your heritage is one thing, but walking over it is another.

I went to a concert of theirs a few years ago... small venue, all standing, all by myself because no one else knew of them (I was probably the oldest concertgoer there!) Smoked a little number in the corner and proceeded to be blown away by one of the best intimate concerts I've ever seen. This song was the highlight for me. So intense. I LOVE LIVE!
