Warren Zevon, Zevon Music BMI
You've got an invalid haircut
It hurts when you smile
You'd better get out of town
Before your nickname expires
It's the kingdom of the spiders
It's the empire of the ants
You need a permit to walk around downtown
You need a license to dance
Life'll kill ya
That's what I said
Life'll kill ya
Then you'll be dead
Life'll find ya
Wherever you go
Requiescat in pace
That's all she wrote
From the President of the United States
To the lowliest rock and roll star
The doctor is in and he'll see you now
He don't care who you are
Some get the awful, awful diseases
Some get the knife, some get the gun
Some get to die in their sleep
At the age of a hundred and one
Life'll kill ya
That's what I said
Life'll kill ya
Then you'll be dead
Life'll find ya
Wherever you go
Requiescat in pace
That's all she wrote
Maybe you'll go to heaven
See Uncle Al and Uncle Lou
Maybe you'll be reincarnated
Maybe that stuff's true
Maybe If you were good
You'll come back as someone nice
And maybe if you were bad
You'll have to pay the price
Life'll kill ya
That's what I said
Life'll kill ya
Then you'll be dead
Life'll find ya
Wherever you go
Requiescat in pace
That's all she wrote
| ThePoose | Posted: Mar 20, 2007 - 10:21 He truly was an excitable boy. |
| Gribnif | Posted: Mar 20, 2007 - 07:24 Leave it to Warren to turn a Latin phrase into a cool-sounding refrain in a rock song. We'll miss you. |
| steeler (Riding The Bus to Canton) | Posted: Mar 20, 2007 - 07:22 Thanks for playing this, Bill. One of the quieter tunes from his immense catalog, and one that rarely gets play. What a wry wit. What a talent. Lots of nuggets to be found within his songs. I hope the lesser-known ones will not get lost in time because Warren often was at his best when he was seemingly providing less. |
| bdmorgan72 (Greenville, IL) | Posted: Sep 11, 2003 - 09:20 When I first heard Warren's music, I found his voice annoying. Now that I've had a chance to listen to him some more, and get used to it, I still find it annoying. Talented songwriter, no doubt. Someone else should have done the singing, though. |

Letterman gave him practically the whole show and that's one of the reasons he rules over leno. with that aside, warren's sad and poignant performance was one of the most memorable performances by an artist i've seen to date, and his amazing attitude towards his own imminent demise is awesome :( |
