Baby, Would you eat that there snack cracker
In your special outfit for me, please?
Yo ye pharoahs, let us walk
Through this barren desert, in search of truth
And some pointy boots, and maybe a few snack crackers.
Baby, you make me wanna walk like a camel.
Walk!
Who's in charge here?
Where's my Captain's wafers?
Don't go around hungry now, the way you eat that oatmeal pie,
Makes me just wanna die, baby!
You make me wanna walk like a camel.
Walk!
Say, you don't think there's any way I can get that quarter
From underneath your pointy boot, do ya?
All I want is just one more oatmeal pie.
Little Debbie, Little Debbie!
I'm a'comin on home, baby, 'cause you make me wanna walk
Like a camel

| Jelani (Home of the freak, land of the vague) | Posted: Feb 28, 2013 - 15:20 I Love it. Makes me smile now, just as it did then. |
| softjeans | Posted: Feb 28, 2013 - 15:20 Okay, now I understand why people like this band. |

| Phlegmaticman (270 miles south of Paradise, CA) | Posted: Jun 22, 2012 - 09:52 I saw these guys at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last year. They rocked out and put on a great show, go-go dancer and all. |
| seaGal (Saint Joe) | Posted: Jun 22, 2012 - 09:50 Little Debbie...Little Debbie! |
| rotten | Posted: May 21, 2012 - 14:57 Thanks for playing this song, one of the best on the lp. |

| Propayne (Richmond VA) | Posted: Feb 16, 2012 - 10:54 I remember that in some select retail outlets they put a sticker on the cellophane to cover the image of the "used" condom. |
| Jmanofktown | Posted: Feb 16, 2012 - 10:18 I haven't heard this song since 1996. Thanks Bill! Brings back great high school days! :-D |
| The_Enemy (...is within) | Posted: Feb 16, 2012 - 10:18 We be dancin' here..... like a camel! |
| lemmoth (NYC) | Posted: Feb 16, 2012 - 10:17 Sound like Steve Martin |
| Ericocean (Cumberland, Maryland) | Posted: Nov 13, 2011 - 05:44 I've see SCOTS two times live, and they are excellent. They are goofing on southern culture which if you see how they dress you would understand - keyboardist in overalls, bass player with bouffant hairdo. Great guitar work if you get a chance to see them. |
| socalhol (Seattle) | Posted: Oct 12, 2011 - 16:11 This song is too funny.... Always reminds me of Sam Rockwell's character in "The Green Mile" — I guess it's the accent, and Moon Pies? |
| SuzG (at my desk) | Posted: Oct 12, 2011 - 16:08 Its a good thing I've got a cool boss ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuweeeee baby! |

The only difference is I'm pretty sure they are making fun of themselves and I'm not sure the B-52's ever did that. They didn't take themselves too seriously (I don't see how they could with the kind of music they made) but Southern Culture on the Skids has a distinctly mocking tone to it. |
| xenothaulus (NEPA) | Posted: Aug 10, 2011 - 19:07 This was playing when I tuned in tonight, and this is why I love RP. |
| Cynaera (South of Neanderthal) | Posted: Jul 10, 2011 - 10:32 Okay, if anyone has ever watched a camel walk, they'll notice that a camel will put both left feet down, then both right feet, instead of left-front-right-rear, right-front-left-rear. The distribution of weight enables a camel to stay on top of the sand instead of sinking into it. This also works for humans when they're walking on sand, except instead of walking heel-to-toe, if a person plants the entire foot on the sand with their weight evenly balanced, they're less likely to sink. (It's like wearing snowshoes.) I have absolutely NO idea how this factoid applies to the song. ![]() |
| Dave_Mack (Ball of Confusion) | Posted: Jul 10, 2011 - 10:27 Too much fun. I'll have to try to see these guys live. |
| calypsus_1 | Posted: Jun 08, 2011 - 18:59 ......Los Lobos - That Train Don't Stop Here Bo Diddley - You Can't Judge a Book By Looking Southern Culture On The Skids - Camel Walk..... .....Talking Heads - Houses In Motion Stephen Marley - You're Gonna Leave Eddie Vedder - Can't Keep The Shins - Gone for Good Bruce Cockburn - Last Night Of The World |
| Cynaera (South of Neanderthal) | Posted: Jun 08, 2011 - 18:53 I have this on my MP3 player, and it was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud while I was watering plants. Glad there was no one in the nursery (and I checked, because one can never be to careful, with Big Brother watching.) I"m still trying to understand this band, but I'm also recognizing that it's probably impossible. I love them, no matter what. |
| Umberdog (Southern Oregon) | Posted: Apr 06, 2011 - 13:12 This seems kinda like a deep southern B-52s. It's fun. |

| Cynaera (South of Neanderthal) | Posted: Aug 28, 2010 - 11:52 I can't help it - I just LOVE this band! They really are the "other B-52's from the wrong side of the tracks." So much fun - short and sweet and shocking. By the time one of their songs is over, you catch yourself scratching your head and going, "Huh? Gotta listen to that one again, because I think I musta blacked out for a minute..." |
