I kind of dig the feel of this. Lyric is a bit of a head scratcher for me, but I kind of like that. Interpret as I wish I reckon.

But I still wonder, why was the sky "sea green" after all?

Just looked at the date of the album - 1996. Yikes 20 years old.  CJ's are relatively new to me thanks to Radio Paradise and I had no idea they had been around so long.  I like the minimalist vibe of the track and well done to Bill an Rebecca for cherry picking the best tracks from artists over the years so that we can hear the best of them.

Would absolutely love to hear a segue from this tune into "Hatfield" from Widespread Panic.  "Made rain for LA..." just lands so nicely out of this beautiful Cowboy Junkies tune...

Of course, if you took your own advice, we'd get to have both Cowboy Junkies and no more ugly posts like this.  Not that I'd advocate such a thing, but apparently some would.

I've met quite a few cowboy junkies. None of them like Cowboy Junkies.

I see that earlier posts mention the Airplane. I hear elements of Jefferson Airplane's Fat Angel in this song.

Done! I've gotten most of the CJ songs I liked most over the years listening to RP. All I need to do is put them in a playlist (Artist = Cowboy Junkies, Rating ≥ 4 stars) and burn a CD. Bill & Crew have already picked them and then had them vetted by us listeners. The ones that are still played are presumably the best ones per Bill & Crew.
