I recall Philip Glass explaining, I think while describing "Nixon in China," that he did not particularly care for the operatic voice. And I think, tho' he didn't say exactly what or who he did prefer, he would prefer voices like Bassey's or Streisand's—vibrant, expressive without necessarily having all the gymnastic requirements of the classically trained voice; i.e., the 30-second note. I'd love to hear, say, Katy Perry do "Aida" or Chris Isaak "The Marriage of Figaro" if only to bring the singing down to earth.

Or as a friend put it once, "Oh, you want to make Mozart over into Gilbert and Sullivan." {#Lol}

I don't know if its the low bit rate I am using (mobile) or what but this song just isn't cutting it for me.  The vocals sound "bad", kinda scratchy and warble-y (not sure if that is a word).  Just not doing it for me this morning.
