TreborG2 wrote: Agreed, and not in a bad way ...I then checked out their AMG review.. the first link for the band itself wasn't so bad, but within that review was a hot link to a review of the actual album Polichinelle. The reviewer, Mr. Dean Carlson does not hold back on his hatred for the album. I mean the guy starts talking about Jeff Buckley and "...worshippers, metaphorically digging up the singer's body and feasting on his yellow, rotten flesh." Pretty much Mr. Carlson hated this album with a passion. :D |
| MsJudi (Houston, TX) | Posted: Jun 04, 2008 - 20:10 Ok, this doesn't happen to me often, but this song has me bawling my eyes out because it makes me think of the things I'd like to say to my daughter, if her ears were ready to hear them. And BTW, the name of this song is wrong. This song is called, "Dark Green". |

I'm getting a House Martins vibe myself. |

Well, yes. But every now and again cotton candy is really, really good. |

| dadofsammy (Hopedale, MA) | Posted: Nov 04, 2002 - 18:09 Sorry. Usually am in sync with you Bill, but this song has bothered me for a long time; easy to listen to, but in the end easy listening...couldn't figure out until tonight who it reminded me of. Then it struck me - the vocals are vintage Marty Balin, right out of the worst of the MOR Jefferson Starship and "Miracles". Thus, a 2. Cotton candy for the ears. |

Bad luck there've been a few too many impersonators of Buckley already and now they've got to take the blame it seems. But at least this one's a lovely, bitter-sweet song and maybe a bit of a classic, 'cause it's got that sort of quality. |
| GF (zilver zbring, MD) | Posted: Jun 14, 2002 - 13:41 ahhh yeahh! it is very Jeff Buckley-ish. |
| (8?» ((+2 RPT, bioload) Columbia, MO) | Posted: Jun 04, 2002 - 08:05 I heard another one of those "bad terrestrial radio habits", Bill. :D Introducing this as a new song when it has been on the playlist for well over a year. ;) |
| Blarg (Attleboro [RPT+3], MA) | Posted: May 26, 2002 - 13:08 I like this tune.. Seems to be a lot of Radiohead/Jeff Buckley/Post-Grunge tunes here and this kind of blends in with the fold. Nice tune to sit around and listen to. What is surprising is the scathing review on the All Music Guide of this album, Polichinelle. Wow. I think Dean Carlson over at AMG had a bad cup of coffee that morning! I like it - and don't care a tinker's cuss what AMG says! Cheers, Blarg. |
| Skid_Mark ([RPT+3] Muskegon, MI) | Posted: May 16, 2002 - 07:24 This song is kind of nostalgic for me when I first started listening to RP, this was one of the songs that really stood out. I had never heard of this group before, and hearing this on RP made me want to keep on listening especially to find out what other great songs Ive been missing. Thanks, B&R, and also to all the RP listeners whove uploaded so many *GREAT* tunes!! :) |
| Leslie (Antioch (155 mi. south of RP), CA) | Posted: May 06, 2002 - 00:01 I like this song so much I definitely want to check out the rest of this band's catalogue. Thanks Bill and Rebecca! |

| GF (zilver zbring, MD) | Posted: Feb 22, 2002 - 13:17 there's something unexpected and wonderful in the way the singer uses his voice. |
| Da_Wiz (Kamuela, HI) | Posted: Feb 06, 2002 - 23:42 Lyrics are excellent on this song. The last verse: "run, abandon your name The lies, the hurt and the blame Tonight you're standing on the edge In hopeless tears that only I can hear The telephone can't bring you here" excellent. |
| the_jake (Secret Hideaway) | Posted: Jan 22, 2002 - 07:33 I really enjoy hearing the diversity on RP. This group is new to me, and quite nice. |
| rmurray248 (EAST Paradise, MA) | Posted: Jan 20, 2002 - 23:06 Nice stuff from the Old Sod. |
