Probably the best concert of the close to 2000 I’ve seen was the Talking Heads at Red Rocks the first time. I hate to say it, but that version of “Once in A Lifetime” by Big Daddy might be better than the original!

There! I said it!

And I bet that David Bryne loves this version!

I think I like it.  Note that it's Calypso, not Reggae.

This song stopped me cold in my tracks.  I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's certainly dramatic.  After the "am I hearing what I think I'm hearing...?" moment at the beginning, I pushed away from my desk and started to laugh to kill myself.

Thanks, RP, for the unexpected.   :)

Is this a lost track from the Little Mermaid soundtrack....(not that I know what that sounds like).

Great! There's something particularly fitting about this song done in a-sort of-African way. They've got the delights of suburban alienation to look forward to. They can go from malaria or whatever to depression as their killer disease.

Well done and in a different way. WACKY but I respect the madness put into this one.

Kudos to Bill for letting us listen to radically different approaches of well known songs, but as the title says: once in a lifetime.

Check out the list of other tunes on this album. Some of this stuff would make Nimoy's album seem almost artful. That said, I don't mind THIS.

I consider myself an admirer of David Byrne, the Talking Heads, and the original version of this song (yeah, I like Harry Belafonte too). Somehow that doesn't prevent me from seeing the humor and cleverness in this version. It's well crafted, played and sung. Not te be overplayed, for sure, but amusing all the same.

Relax, it's a nice take on a great song. David Byrne has dabbled in a tone of different types of music, so it fits that his songs should too.

Is this for real!!! Wow!

It's like some kind of bizarre time warp where DB's lyrics pop out of some kind of pod twenty years earlier and morph into this.. Totally bizarre!! Don't think I want to hear it twice, but this was a good laugh.

Hmm. No. I don't know. I mean I guess it's ok. But then again, no.

This version loses the intensity that the original has in unmistakable quantity.
