![]() The Captain (1999) [ larger cover art ] |
Well I don't have as many friends because
I'm not as pretty as I was
I've kicked myself at times because I've lied
So I will have to learn to stand my ground
I'll tell 'em I won't be around
I'll move on over to your town and hide
And you be the Captain
And I'll be no-one
And you can carry me away if you want to
And you can lay low
Just like your father and if
I tread upon your feet you just say so
'Cos you're The Captain, I am no-one,
I tend to feel as though I owe one to you
Well I have handed all my efforts in
I searched here for my second wind
Is there somewhere here to let me in I asked
So I slammed the doors they slammed at me
I found the place I'm meant to be
I figured out my destiny at last
Did I forget to thank you for the ride
I hadn't tried I tend to runaway and hide

Maybe the rain has affected your taste? What?!?!? are you people crazy?!? I think this was the weirdest, worst song I have EVER heard Raido Paradise play. You LIKE this song? Do you people have any taste at all?! |

| Chunnamark (Boston, MA) | Posted: Dec 24, 2003 - 07:11 I LOVE this song! It's one one those songs-that-I've-tried-to-play-and-sing-but-just-didn't-sound-right kind of songs... it also reminds me of "Hallelujah" by Martin Sexton... |
| alanb (Vancouver) | Posted: Nov 02, 2003 - 19:01 Wow. A great voice. Snarky man-hating lyrics, but I'll let it slide... 'Specially since that kind of woman turns me on for some reason :) |
| riverpilot | Posted: Oct 23, 2003 - 13:07 What a great song by a very charismatic live performer with a fascinating personal history. Check her out: http://www.kaseychambers.com/ Tried uploading "A Million Tears", my favorite, but it was not to be. A pity. |

| Eul0gy | Posted: Oct 23, 2003 - 13:06 this song makes me feel like a part of myself is missing... it makes the place where that something should be ... hurt ... i love it |
| mnuisance (Half Moon Bay, CA) | Posted: Oct 23, 2003 - 13:06 Kasey Chambers is great. Even though this graces the second Sopranos soundtrack, it can be found on her first album "The Captain". She's Australian, but sounds like she's cut from the same cloth as EmmyLou Harris and the most excellent Julie Miller. Julie and Buddy Miller, btw, are to be found all over The Captain album, as well as its follow-up "Barricades and Brickwalls". Good, good stuff. |
| bakedjake (Cleveland, OH) | Posted: Oct 23, 2003 - 13:05 this song is poor. i just don't like it, sorry. emo-country. |
| jugo (Olathe, KS) | Posted: Oct 23, 2003 - 13:04 I like a lot of other Casey Chambers' tunes more than this one, but they may be too country for RP... |
| bigpomp (Right in front of my Mac) | Posted: Oct 23, 2003 - 13:03 Great song, great album (the Captain not the Soprano's soundtrack). Kasey's pretty enough for me! |
