This is an incredible album. After hearing several songs here on RP, I purchased it.

Well worth the moolah.

There are better versions. Siouxsie Sioux's, for example.

Her voice is thin and weak. Holly Cole's version is 10x better.

It is probably easier to model a boa constrictor as a one-dimensional spline.

Sorry, let me clarify. "I wanna be like you" was sung by King Louie the Ape in Jungle Book. "Trust in me" was sung by Kaa the snake in the same movie.

Clever, but I find the voice inadequate and rather thin; it reminds me of Edie Brickell's.

Finally put my finger on it, feels like something from a Disney Movie, like a scene from Aladdin.

Edit:

Oh, it was Jungle Book, thanks Anires! (guess I should have read back even further in the comments and the mystery would have been solved sooner - oh well)

Don't complain! As covers go, this is a huge improvement over Dolly Parton's repugnant rendition of Collective Soul's "Shine" played earlier today. I couldn't eat for hours. After this creative take, however, I'm feeling a bit...hungry.

P.S. I'm with daveh25 -the Louis Prima I Wanna Be Like You slays Los Lobos' effort.

It took me a while to figure out why this song sounded so distantly familiar. I think it is pretty funny how she can reach back to something like this and have it basically fit in with current world beat portfolio.
