Can you feel a little love?
As your bony fingers close around me
Long and spindly Death becomes me
Heaven, can you see what I see?
Hey, you pale and sickly child
You're death and living reconciled
Been walking home a crooked mile
Paying debt to karma
You party for a living
What you take won't kill you
But careful what you're giving
There's no time for hesitating
Pain is ready, pain is waiting
Primed to do its educating
Unwanted, uninvited kin
It creeps beneath your crawling skin
It lives without it lives within you
Feel the fever coming
You're shaking and twitching
You can scratch all over
But that won't stop you itching
Can you feel a little love?
Can you feel a little love?
Dream on, dream on
Blame it on your karmic curse
Oh, shame upon the universe
It knows its lines, It's well rehearsed
It sucked you in, it dragged you down
To where there is no hallowed ground
Where holiness is never found
Paying debt to karma
You party for a living
What you take won't kill you
But careful what you're giving
Can you feel a little love?
Can you feel a little love?
Dream on, dream on
Can you feel a little love?
Can you feel a little love?
Dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on
| jocelynsart | Posted: Jan 26, 2013 - 10:44 They grew on me too. When I was a teen/20 something, I didn't care for the original Depeche Mode but after their newer stuff came out in the 2000s, I really liked them. |
| Sturff (Moscow, Idaho) | Posted: Sep 22, 2012 - 21:03 I had an employee who adored Depeche Mode. I always wondered why? After listening to several of their songs I have to say that they really grow on you. It feels gooooood! And I dooooo feeeeel a litttttllllle biiiiiit of looove. |
| poetista | Posted: Aug 22, 2012 - 09:15 What a surprise. I really enjoyed this. I hardly know any of their work. I only remember their name and have a vague impression that they were the perpetrators of a couple of silly videos that got way too much airplay in MTV's debut years. That category, however, is littered with the desecrated bodies of now-forgotten bands. This song convinces me that I should be paying closer attention. |

| shutter (You can't get here from there) | Posted: Oct 29, 2010 - 05:03 Funny - I walked into the office just now listening to Depeche Mode on my iPod. Took out the earbuds and this one was on! Coincidence? Perhaps ;^). |
| socalhol (Seattle) | Posted: Jun 23, 2010 - 15:51 My brother got up and sang (more like spoken) karioke to this song for me! He did a great job — but I was the only one cheering. Hard crowd (obviously not DM fans....). |

man, i haven't thought about those albums in years (decades?). it made me check out the tracklist on amazon. broken frame is where you can find the original "Leave in Silence", one of depeche's best regardless of era. thanks for the reminder. |
| tclodes (Oklahoma City) | Posted: Jun 27, 2008 - 07:24 Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand sounds a bit like Dave Gahan. I'm just noticing that. |

If, by "great stuff" you mean "horribly dated stuff" then I agree wholeheartedly. And by "horribly dated" I mean "horribly dated by the time Violator came out". |

Sorry, can't limit it to two. :) - "Personal Jesus", Violator - "Policy of Truth", Violator - "Enjoy the Silence", Violator - "People are People", Some Great Reward - "Walk In My Shoes", Songs of Faith & Devotion - "Strangelove", Music for the Masses - "I Feel You", Songs of Faith & Devotion My ex-girlfriend used to absolutely love "Blue Dress", off Violator. It was her favorite song. |
| Kristi (Athens, GA) | Posted: Apr 25, 2008 - 08:28 I really love Depeche. Thanks so much to RP for playing great stuff like this... which I would never hear anywhere else!! I've never heard this gem before. Makes me hunger for more! Gotta buy me a new DM CD!! |

Fave songs: Enjoy the Silence--Violator Personal Jesus--Violater Precious--I forget the name of this album... what about anything from any of their earlier recordings? From the 80's? many more treasures await your ears if you look farther back? maybe? |
| EssexTex (London) | Posted: Sep 18, 2007 - 07:04 They really retained their cult status in the States, more so than in U.K, much like the Cult, Cure, etc I've always liked a more "American" sound... |

"Waiting for the night" off of Violator, but again, take any track off of that album. Amazing. I'll second the vote for both of those albums. Can't pick a favorite song, though...too many to choose from. |

| piccic (Modena) | Posted: Nov 12, 2005 - 08:32 Despite its good radio success when it came out, I hinestly think Dream On is not so much "Depeche Mode" and has not so much impact. The lyrics are quite interesting falling in their subgenre which I'm unable to clearly focus about. |
| jah_blessed (Netherlands) | Posted: Sep 12, 2005 - 22:28 I really appreciate RP playing DM, but there are so many better songs than "Dream On". Like the rest of "Exciter" (surely their most ironic album title), this is incredibly boring. Looking forward to their new album next month. The few songs I've heard of it are all miles better than their last two offerings combined. |
