Wow, flawless transition from Thievery Corp. I almost thought it was the same song shifting gears until I heard the mighty Joe's voice.

I like Bob Marley. I like reggae. Unfortunately reggae has the staying power of a wet match beyond two minutes of listening. I know it's just me. My problem...but I'm sick of reggae roughly 1:13 minutes into any tune...no matter how good they are.

I was patrolling a Pachinko
Nude noodle model parlor in the Nefarious zone
Hanging out with insects under ducting
The C.I.A was on the phone
Well, such is life

Latino caribo, mondo bongo
The flower looks good in your hair
Latino caribo, mondo bongo
Nobody said it was fair, oh

Latino caribo, mondo bongo
The flower looks good in your hair
Latino caribo, mondo bongo
Nobody said it was fair

Latino caribo, mondo bongo
The flower looks good in your hair
Latino caribo, mondo bongo
Nobody said it was fair

For the Zapatistas I'll rob my sisters
Of all the curtain and lace

Down at the bauxite mine
You get your own uniform
Have lunchtimes off
Take a monorail to your home

Checkmate, baby
God bless us and our home
Where ever we roam
Now take us home, flaquito

Latino caribo, mondo bongo
The flower looks good in your hair
Latino caribo, mondo bongo
Nobody said it was fair
Latino caribo, mondo bongo
The flower looks good in your hair
Latino caribo, mondo bongo
Nobody said it was fair

I love the Clash, but I have to say that some of Joe's songs with the Mescaleros are among my favorite songs ever.

Gotta say, Northern New Mexico cuisine is really an art apart. Not Tex or generic Southwest. Agreed, food from the neighborhood is a blessing and a treat. My Santa Barbara neighbors were lovely and generous, and put up with my gringo espanol with grace and humor.

Archiving pics so more pics of me being a celebrity whore!
When I met Joe Strummer of the Clash. He was very chill, totally friendly, didn't treat anyone like he was better than them. I even got a hug from him!!
The gal that was part of his entourage took this pic and actually mailed it to us. Didn't expect to ever see it. Very, very cool.

Not unlike San Tropez by The Floyd, does this song transport it's listeners: for me, all the way down to a sandy caribe beach at dusk whilst a gentle breeze paired nicely with a lilting melody helps ease a very cool & refreshing mojito down me parched throat

This is better - and look at the comments, a real love it or hate it record.  Solid 6, maybe 7 from me (it's not my favourite sound but I'll defend Joe's right to make it)

I like some of Joe Strummer's work, but this one misses the mark, IMHO.

WXPN, the University of Pennsylvania public radio station, has begun airing "Joe Strummer's London Calling", a BBC radio show he DJ'd in the late '90s. It's a kick to listen to the eclectic music he chose. XPN is available online at xpn.org (not to compete with RP or anything) and the show is on Tuesday nights at 8pm eastern. It's probably elsewhere as well, but thought some of you might be interested.
