Saw them supporting David Bowie on his 'Glass Spider Tour' at Wembly.

They were better than Bowie who was very disappointing.

Not very appropriate with a quiet saturday, at noon. That's probably where the jetlag is the most sensible

Wow! A real blast from the past. Sad that Stuart Adamson (the lead singer) is no longer with us.

That's a common misconception, all eras have many songs which do not age well - the '80s have no more or less, really.  Great tune, at any rate.

I like lots of different kind of music. I like this a lot although I wouldn't think of it if I was making a list of my favourite songs ever. Nevertheless, if I was ever going to write and record a song, I would very much like it to sound like this. Huge, passionate and timeless. Does that make sense?

Just yesterday my 21 year old daughter  played this and asked if I'd ever heard this amazing song; when I sang it word for word she was stunned.
/ I also danced and that was just plain embarrassing. O_o

That rare band out of the British Isles in the early 1980s that was not scared to play its instruments.

One of the best debut albums ever. Like a breath of fresh air every time I hear it, all the way back from 1983.

This is so good.  I am surprised that some two-bit billboard hip-hop "artist" has not tried to cover it.

Love this song, and I'm actually a huge fan of Face to Face's cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHI7wTcEfik. Punk rock cover done well, they really capture the emotion well while still sounding authentic.

Funny, 2 of my finalists in my all time favorite song list both have big country in the title; Chis Whitley's Big Sky Country and this; In A Big Country. It's the little things.......

I agree.  I loved Big Country when they first emerged here in Amurrica. I still have the vinyl album (the blue one) and I still love the passion of their sound.  This particular song just re-energizes me and makes me realize that no matter what happens "out there," I can stay alive.  And if things totally fall apart, I'll be a survivor. (Shades of "I Will Not Go Quietly" by Don Henley, with Axel Rose on backup vocals.)
