Nothing will stand in your way — except, perhaps, the lack of a beat. And some of the old Paint It Black balls on fire sound.

This song is great because it shows the diversity of the band and of Mick's voice!

I recall that when this came out, while I was at Engineering School, my girlfriend at the time was really into this. I was way into Some Girls and earlier stuff, and I liked this trippy song well enough, but the rest of this particular album of theirs just didn't move me...but she sure did, and so every time I was over there, if she insisted on playing it again and again, I tried not to mind...and now I really like hearing this one to remind me!

A drinking friend of mine lived by the axiom - When in doubt, put on the Stones!

He wasn't wrong.

Tatoo You - check out the brilliant Sonny Rollins sax solo at the end of 'Waiting on a Friend'. This whole album is quirky by Stones standards and even though it has never received the attention that Exile on Main Street or Sticky Fingers or Goats Head Soup received this slightly introspective album is still up there with the best of their output, in my humble opinion at least {#Wink}.

As usual RP gets it right!

Agreed.  I "read" the audio version.  Keith Richards himself narrates part of the audiobook as does Johnny Depp.  Most entertaining.

So I was not really into the Stones during my teen years- the 80s.  But the more I listen to them the more I appreciate them for being SOOO good and it is this song that proves that.  Unfortunately so many of their songs are so overplayed that it is hard to listen to them with a fresh ear, but when I hear songs like this or Slave, that don't get radio airplay or were not on Hot Rocks, I can only listen in awe........ Thanks RP!

I just read that Tatto You was made from a collection of old songs that the Stone wrote many years earlier but never added to earlier albums.
Jezz how great is that ... it's time for a new album so just release old material and create a masterpiece.
Everysong on Tatto You is excellent.

Word has it these guys are talented

This is the measure of a truly good band: songs outside their normal genre, especially those that are WAAAAAY outside, played well.  Never mind that we may not like it, the variety shows the depth of their writing and performance talent.

For the record, I love this outside-the-box tune.
