Two others have already responded to this, but I couldn't resist. The singer's name is Katherine Whalen and she does hail from North Carolina as someone has already mentioned. And the other comment about Amy being about 12 when the album came out is also correct. I have the CD right in front of me. Bought it new at the time. 1996.

But wait! There's more.The violinist is none other than Andrew Bird.

Ha. I learn something new every day.

I like the Zippers in general, and I kinda liked this one the first time I heard it...but on repeated listening, it just doesn't hold up for me.

Yea, I am with you. Never liked these guys. I am sure they are really nice and their mothers think they are good boys. They also look like they have a lot of fun. They should continue to do that preferrably not in my ear shot.

How funny! The Navy flying team the Blue Angels are doing (deafening!!) practice runs over my house right now, preparing for their big weekend show just across the bay at MacDill AFB in Tampa. I read in the local paper that they got their name from a bar... the "famous Blue Angel nightclub," in 1946!

My personal favorite is "Memphis Exorcism".

On an unrelated note...for some reason, this song made me start thinking about "Gee Angel", by Sugar, which is now stuck in my head.
