If you want a lover
I'll do anything you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I'll wear a mask for you
If you want a partner, take my hand, or
If you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I'm your man
If you want a boxer
I will step into the ring for you
And if you want a doctor
I'll examine every inch of you
If you want a driver, climb inside
Or if you want to take me for a ride
You know you can
I'm your man
Ah, the moon's too bright
The chain's too tight
The beast won't go to sleep
I've been running through
These promises to you
That I made and I could not keep
Ah, but a man never got a woman back
Not by begging on his knees
Or I'd crawl to you baby
And I'd fall at your feet
And I'd howl at your beauty
Like a dog in heat
And I'd claw at your heart
And I'd tear at your sheet
I'd say please, please
I'm your man
And if you've got to sleep a moment on the road
I will steer for you
And if you want to work the street alone
I'll disappear for you
If you want a father for your child
Or only want to walk with me a while
Across the sand
I'm your man
If you want a lover
I'll do anything that you ask me to
And if you want another kind of love
I'll wear a mask for you

Sure, this song has only been played twice in the last 30 days, but lets add up all the times any leonard cohen song has been played. This is a valid mathematical summation, since all leonard cohen songs sound exactly the same. The total # of plays is WAY to high in my opinon. It's why artists record...to get played...how often they are is a signal about how well they did...you don't like it? PSD, mate...The Great Canadian Bullfrog will still be playing long after you can't type anymore. |

| Pedro1874 (Newton-le-Willows, England) | Posted: Sep 20, 2012 - 08:05 His "voice" has improved over the years and I now love him even more! His last tour was outstanding. I saw him in Liverpool (UK) and you could have heard a pin drop when he was talking in between songs. The sound system was one of the best in terms of clarity in a big arena that I have ever heard. The concert was fun - and this really comes across on the DVD - "Live in London" he is a very amusing guy believe it or not! Sharon Robinson, one of his song writing "collaborators" was also superb as a backing singer and soloist. Her only album is great for late night listening. Her co backing singers, The Webb sisters, are two English sisters who are also terrific in their own right. The musicians that he picked are of the highest quality which all helped to add up to one of the greatest concerts/gigs of my long music loving life! |

He's in the same league as Tom Waits and Bob Dylan, great songwriters and street poets with voices that are, to put it gently, an 'acquired taste'. Next time this comes on, hit mute and find the song lyrics and see if they grab you. Cohen's not the greatest singer on this earth, but I've come to like his gravelly near-subsonic voice thanks to repeated exposure by RP. Jennifer Warnes' "Famous Blue Raincoat" and "Tower of Song, The songs of Leonard Cohen" a Cohen "tribute" album, both have some really accessable vocals doing his music, if you'd like a rest from the Great Canadian Bullfrog :) |

I'll never listen to A.M. or F.M. radio again. I can't remember the first time I heard him, but I do remember what I have thought of his music from the beginning— the greatest lounge jazz in the world... | calypsus_1 | Posted: Mar 17, 2011 - 16:10 * "copyright grounds" Sony Music Entertainment And I add that there ever was a time when Sony dominated and monopolized the market in certain parts of the western world, in televisions, video players, game consoles, music cd, hi-fi, mobile phones. Sony were not the best products but they were the more versatile. Not so anymore. Several years ago, Sony they are a common brand among many others. And Sony still not better. Perhaps this explains the desperation of lower themselves to the point of harass and cause potential customers who once had as certain in the past, censoring excerpts of videos, thinking that they are losing profits from sales of music DVDs. And with these attitudes are going to lose much more, because consumers also have the "right of the copyright of their choice" of option to not purchase the products of label Sony Music Entertainment and boycott them. Well, Sony is on track to go sell dvd's to the Arabian desert. This same, the desert of camels e reptiles. calypsus_1 wrote: Leonard Cohen - "I'm Your Man" (Live In London 2009): |

'I'm your man' maybe speaks more to the mature members of the audience but, even those less mature should appreciate that he is the most covered artist of his time. Thanks RP for all the good memories you evoke and the new sounds you open. "Covered" most likely because everyone thinks they can record a better version of his music |
| Sasha2001 (Where the last of the union men run free) | Posted: Mar 17, 2011 - 12:51 The Steely Dan cut before this song has not helped my opinion of Mr. Cohen. What is that, a child's casio playing in the background? 4 > 2 |
