She came from Oklahoma
She said the end of the world
Was on its way in a Chevy nova
She came from Oklahoma
She said the end of the world
Was on its way in a Chevy nova
Her smile was just a shadow
That trembled in the sun
And turned to stone as she grew older
Her smile was just a shadow
That trembled in the sun
And turned to stone as she grew older
She bought an El Camino
And a pocket full of pills she called her
And swore she's found salvation
But the hand grenades inside her
Where ready to explode
And the pins were pulled long ago
By sweet temptation
She found herself in New Orleans
With carnival of tears upon her veins
In the arms of strangers
When the lies where not enough
To hold back all the years of pain
She'd lie inside the danger and cry
You can tie me to the ground but not today
I need me one more chance to fly away
And tonight I'm gonna fly away

| paloeguevo | Posted: Sep 29, 2005 - 11:31 It should have been a 2 minutes song, too long and boring. |

Usually I would agree with you, but I did like the instrumentation here, the overall execution (accentuated beats, syncopes, cool riffs and solos etc), the clearcut sounds, the smokey voice and the tight, dense mix.
It's an old theme but well glued together I think. Reminds me a bit of the flow the old Traffic had... giving it a 8... tempted by a 9! :D |

| jeremyleo (Ottawa, Canada) | Posted: Apr 20, 2005 - 08:15 I first heard this on KPIG and it prompted my to pick up the CD, which I think is excellent. Saw him live in Toronto as well - fun live show. Some of Bob's earlier stuff (with Ugly American's) is kind of quirky. Unique and interresting lyrics on this CD as well. |
