This makes me feel a little better.  I might put this on my playlist, right after "That's the Way of the World" by Earth, Wind and FIre. {#Meditate}{#Sunny}

Not authentic, original reggae, but not bad!

Yeah. Like something you might hear at Sears while shopping with your kids in the hip-wannabe teen clothes department.

(Suppressing dark memories of my own pre-teen experiences in said department...)

That's for sure! I think that many of the listeners can't hear this in its historical context. Third World is a sweet mix of Reggae and American R&B. Different than a hard reggae band.

I'm not one to make immature comments, but I wonder why no one else has, about the lyrics I mean...just goes to show the classiness of this joint.

Grew up listening to this! Still have it on vinyl. Older Third World is some of the most sophisticated Reggae out there.
Jah Glory, and 96' in the shade might be better tracks to pick off this album. This is still a good groove though. Thanks Bill!

Got a good groove going. War comes to mind. At first I though that this may have been an influence on War, but it came a few years after. Still, not reaching for the volume control either way. Booker T following this is a good touch (as usual), Bill. Thanks!

This sounds like (Continental U.S.) ghetto reggae, as heard on the Grammy Awards and played by some Caribbean wannabes.

Dread without the locks.

Sounds like Reggae in Zappa style without lyrics worth listening to.

Why the hate for old school reggie music? This stuff definitely evokes a wonderful emotion for me. And that's the point of music and RP in the first place. But, apparently, it's not for everyone.

ps: I know how to spell reggae

This stuff is formative for me.
Been listening to this kind of thing since I was ten. I love the old style. The eternal baseline, the little noises in the background.
