Let's go get stoned
Let's go get stoned
Let's go get stoned
Let's go get stoned
(Now, wait a minute)
You know my baby, she won't let me in
I've got a few pennies, I'm gonna' buy myself a bottle of gin
And then I'm gonna' call my buddy, on the telephone and say
Let's go get stoned
(Now, listen)
You know I work so hard, all day long
Everything I try to do, seems to always turn out wrong
That's why I wanna' stop by, on my way home and say
Let's go get stoned
(Let me tell you one more thing)
Ain't no harm, to have a little taste
But don't lose your cool, and start messing up the man's place
Ain't no harm, to take a little nip
But don't you fall down, and bust your lip
Let's go get stoned (6x)

I'd smoke pot rather than drink Jack Daniels for recreation. I think that, if anything, people are more paranoid than ever, and let the witch-hunts begin. I live in Colorado, and MMJ is out in the open here. We've got shops on every freaking corner advertising plants and buds of all varieties, and edibles come in all types of baked forms. It's ridiculous, actually. Pot's not my thing. Just doesn't react well with me. But if it's your thing, come on over to CO. All you need is a doctor approved MMJ card. They're sadly easy to get. |

I meant that pot smoking is much more accepted than in the past. The last three US Presidents have admitted to "being around" or using controlled substances - particularly marijuana; that would not have been concievable in the 1950's and 60's, much less "acceptable". I don't think that general "society" is more paranoid about drug use than they were forty or fifty years ago; the people who may be "more paranoid" are the ones who are using or selling controlled substances. |

| gratefulgator (San Francisco CA) | Posted: Dec 08, 2010 - 13:33 I think Ray's got the right idea... sounds good to me! |
| bachbeet | Posted: Nov 06, 2010 - 20:13 "er, uh...actually, i think Ray did both..." I think Ray was actually being sly. He knew that if he said any words like "toke" or "dope" or any other drug reference, his song probably would never have been played. Heck, I think Anslinger was still alive and enforcing his wacky views. |

| martinc (Ottawa Canada) | Posted: Aug 03, 2010 - 06:14 Ray should have done this as a duet with Joe Cocker. It would have been a classic. Ray was one talented man. Too early here to take his advice today. |

| jimcummings | Posted: Jun 18, 2009 - 10:34 Many, many years ago, I was the PR guy for the Latin Casino in New Jersey. I saw and met most of the "greats" of the post war years through the early 60's. Since those days I have always said my headstone should say - "a life well spent - he saw Ray Charles and James Brown, twice a night, for two weeks." Both were forces of nature (and never did the same show twice). Jim Cummings |

| stkman (Texas) | Posted: Feb 11, 2009 - 23:33 I saw Ray several times but once during his down time he was playing lil dinner theaters and everybody from work was treated to a night with Ray and I don't think they knew what they were in for, our table was closest to his piano and I was a diehard fan at time and just went crazy, he was maybe 10 ft away and played for close to 2 hrs. Now I was at Texas Pop Festival , Atlanta Pop festival, saw all the big groups first tours but that night with Ray with something special that I will never forget, and had the privledge of telling him so as he was leaving and he just flashed that big smile and said "why, thank you I enjoyed it too" . What a class act and talent |
