I don't find the lyrics "pedestrian" at all, but then, I've walked a lot of places.  She tried to get Samuel Taylor Coleridge to work with her on this tune, but he was busy doing a remix with P-Diddy.

Her voice is much better in a more natural environment (i.e., not as electronic).

Interesting term (dweepiness)... what's the origin?

No results from Google. "Dweepy" turns up either some program used for nuclear physics, or Dutch pages, which I can't read, so I'm guessing it's some Dutch colloquialism, and probably not too complimentary by the tone of the above... Edited By kenmo at 12:00 pm on 5/22/2003

not sure if I will like this one after the 5th listening... inteteresting electronica sound and a nice baseline piece...

Good to see a lot of mixed up sounds coming out of the powerful women singers...

I expect to hear more fused tunes like this over here in the states... Seems the UK has been shaking to these sorts of arrangements for a long while...

The only saving grace of this song is that it is Beth Orton, who I normally really like. I hope she abandons this new style.

Just saw Beth at the Cambridge Corn Exchange (!), standing two feet from the front of the stage. It wasn't an amazing show like say, Emerson Lake and Palmer (as if anyone would actually compare them), but it was a really intimate, fun, and thoroughly enjoyable show. Beth was obviously having a good time, telling corny jokes between songs, and did I think four encores, the last just her alone without the band, though her band is really fantastic. A very memorable evening.

As for the details like the ringing that some people pick up on, well, I sure as hell could find something else to gripe about. Her ambient stuff in the background is cool.Edited By Myrrh at 11:10 am on 10/30/2002

Pretty sure it's a cello... which technically is part of the violin family, so not truely incorrect.
