Not sure.  The River is life and how it gets taken downstream by events beyond individual control.

Have you ever dumped a canoe or kayak in Class IV rapids and then drifted downstream while your thighs are banging against rocks?

That is the metaphor that I understood.

Actually, yes... a kayak... more than once... but it was my *head* and shins banging against rocks... fortunately I was wearing a helmet and a wetsuit... but this might explain a few things about me now.

Oh, man.  I've always liked the sound of this song, but never really listened to or paid close attention to the lyrics.  I just read the words. Now I'm in tears.

Stub30, unfortunately they packed it in a few years ago - pity because I liked their layered 'wall of sound' style.

Great track, accompanied by mostly enjoyable vocals.  Great demonstration of what the band can achieve.  8 at least to my ears.

Great tune, kind of a wall-of-sound deal.

My first time hearing this song.  I love the passion and the beat. If I were to hear it on one of our local stations, I'd definitely crank it up and do the whole Google thing to find out who did it. THANK GOODNESS FOR RP! We have it all here.  Bill, if you were a god, I'd pick you over the one I currently doubt. {#Roflol}

A year and a half later I read this quip of yours and I'm laughing out loud.
Time stands still on RP, I guess.
